Seibertron are reporting that the teaser trailer has gone online at the official website http://www.transformersmovie.com - it's taking a while to load right now, but this could be our first glimpse of what's to come...
[edit] well something's loading. but it sure is taking its sweet time about it. From the the first two seconds, this is the teaser trailer as described in the other thread.
Go and watch it! Now!

If the whole idea of "well, let's just stick some spacey thing in the desert and call it Mars. Tint the sky? Nah, no need to. We say it's Mars," is going to be par for the course, that sucks.

Good, but could have been done a lot better. Like give time for the Decepticon silohuette to be seen for people who don't know what Transformers are to better understand what's going on. Because with this teaser, non-TF fans can't really tell what happens there. I mean, does the rover just explode or something?
"But the Costa story featuring Starscream? Fantastic! This guy is "The One", I just know it, just from these few pages. "--Yaya, who is never wrong.

It's up on YouTube and loads a lot faster :3
Decidedly meh. Somebody probably thought it was a fantastically clever way of being topical, putting together a teaser AND not actually having to do any real work so they can concentrate on the movie (the latter of which is fair enough I feel).
Pretty uninspiring though. Maybe the next one'll be a bit better... although given it's Michael Bay I won't bet the mortgage on it...

It's not really hard to do Mars, is it?Rebis wrote:There'll be blue skies over... the Beagle 2 Rover??
Dust everywhere... tint the sky a bit... a bit of static to indicate possible unknown radiation interfering with things...
But, no... crystal clear reception giving us a perfect view of... what could be anywhere, really.
Authentical!
That makes me cry.TRANSFORMERS
A MICHAEL BAY film
But there'll be cool explosions.
Grrr. Argh.

yeah, the 'Mars' stuff looks like it was filmed by some kids in their back yard.
the actual structure of the trailer is ok, the air of menace and foreboding angle...
but in terms of execution, you don't really see anythig meaningful from a TF perspective.
the tRansofrming logo is quite nice (mass compression!)
bot logo look slightly odd.

Watched it a few times now and it's actually a pretty odd idea for a trailer... it's such a tiddly event to attach such cosmic importance too. It just feels clumsy, as if someone is trying to ground a rather fantastical idea for a film in something which is generally pretty dull to make it seem more real. Though I'd assume this has virtually nothing to do with the actual movie, probably some cheap way of getting out a trailer with minimal work.

They should have let me write the trailer. It would have had less Mars in it and more... Run away!!!!
Very similar to my script treatment for Fantastic Four.
By which I mean Ghostbusters 3. Which would naturally need a trailer... hence my evil scheme...

Watching the teaser took me like an hour, so I saw most parts in slow motion before seeing them in a correct fashion.
While I watched it seemed that when the shapes changed to the logo and then to the symbol like they were "fighting" but maybe it was just my imagination trying to see more in the teaser (and the crap connection).
I dont get why a tf would dispose a probe in that evident manner, instead of just firing it from distance. And mostly I dont like the perspective from where things are being adressed. Like an alien -earth, human centered-invasion.

Well tbh at first I thought aah Megs. But then I thought, wait it's an unformatted screamer. It's just the kind of thing he would do, give the Decepticon's presence away ahead of Megatron's schedule.
Also the head, isn't a Megs head and I'd like to think the Commanders are gonna be bigger than that.
My Monthly 5 cents

Frankly, I liked the Transforming logo and especially it's more-metallic transforming sound mostly... as for the rest of the trailer, I'm really getting 'Independence day' feelings, which is, as anyone who saw that *** can tell, is bad.
Already when I heard about how much the army will be incorporated in the movie, I felt bad... I mean the army won't give their name to being pummeled and eradicated, which is what in reality should happen to them in a movie like this. I fear we'll see the army saving the day and helping out the bots...
Also, why can't they make the movie build up like Infiltration? From what we heard and have seen so far, the TFs will be represented as aliens and shown from a human perspective...

Because then the movie would be 4 hours long? And wouldn't it feel like a bit of "ho-hum, same old, same old ripp-off"?BB Shockwave wrote:Also, why can't they make the movie build up like Infiltration? Also, I liked Independence Day, but with that said, would I want that concept for Transformers? No, of course not. But I did not get the feeling at all that this would be the case from the trailer.
Seriously, though - is anybody actually expecting anything other than a SFX-heavy "OMG! Big Robots Fighting!" Popcorn Fest?Metal Vendetta wrote:I'm *sure* it'll all be fine.

I'm not.
I anticipate a plot-lite script, dodgy dialogue, a cursory attempt at something verging on acting, fast paced action scenes, lots of heavy editing, an up-tempo techno-y soundtrack and lots and lots of big explosions.
Because I'm feeling all cynical and like a realist.
It won't be Miller's Crossing. It won't be the hard-edged gritty sci-fi epic we all have in our mind as what TF *is* - it's a Michael Bay movie.
So, I've decided not to complain. I'm going to wait, avoid spoilers as much as possible, ignore all the whinging fanboys saying "WHERE ARE THE ROBOTS WITH TITS?!" (hi, Cliffy), and -- provided Don Murphy doesn't put a fatwah on me for anything I may say in the interim -- go in with no expectations, other than to see things go BOOM. Hopefully one of those things will be Bernie Mac.
I'm now off to watch England go out of another World Cup on penalties, then I'll be watching a Big Budget Low Brain Sci Fi Epic by the name of Blake's 7. SFX > plot.
Grrr. Argh.

I'm expecting it to be a film in the exact same vein as League of Extraordinary Gentlemen and Van Helsing. Probably some no-brainer plot, most of the 'excitement' being derived from the novelty factor of big transforming robots shooting stuff and... transforming. wow. With a heavy dose of 'subtle' hints at the old continuities... and by subtle I mean pointless one-liners and set-pieces that are about as well interwoven with the story as a rhinoceros horn up the backside.
And for the record, I laughed all the way through Miller's Crossing. It's like somebody showed a small martian child the Godfather and asked them to write their own version. And what was with that goddamn hat? I'm usually smart enough to be able to see most symbolism, even to be able to invent it where none exists- but that was just random. I'm assuming they found the movie ran 10 minutes short and they needed some filler, and by that point they'd dismantled most of the sets and scenes and all they had left was the hat...
