Transformers Spotlight: Shockwave
Simon Furman (w); Nick Roche (a); Nick Roche, James Raiz (c)
Presenting a series of one-shots, focusing on some of the best-loved (or loathed) characters from the TRANSFORMERS Universe. The spotlight falls on SHOCKWAVE as the coldly logical DECEPTICON undertakes a plan of devastating scope and ambition, one that will send shockwaves through the entire saga, including the Stormbringer and Escalation series and beyond! Guest-starring... the DINOBOTS! By Simon Furman (The Transformers: Stormbringer) and Nick Roche (Transformers: Generations).
See Shockwave in action
Shockwave has lost a lot of weight. Looks a little too much like something you’d see in Gundam for my liking but I can dig it. No doubt it will cause a stir among fans. Dinobots=Grimlock= ):
Glad to see the spotlights are relevant to the bigger picture…And those are organic dinosaurs in the background so you can draw your own conclusions to whether that’s prehistoric Earth ala Evolutions (Albeit different continuities ) or some weird dino Island ala Marvel.

Looks like a pretty cool redesign to me. Although this whole "Shockwave arrives on Earth early and f***s with the Dinosaurs/Dinobots" thing is a bit old hat.

Ooh, I hope we get an updated "Shockwave goes mental against a load of dinosaurs" shot That was always a great moment for me in the early comics. Is this a time-travel thing? A prequel? We know that the Dinobots are somewhere on Earth in the IDWverse from Mechatopia, so maybe this is the sotry of how they (and Shockwave) get there. Perhaps Shockers has had his eye on this new "super-fuel" of Starscream's for a while.
And as for the Stormbringer #2 spoiler...
little green men? human-looking? mechanoids? or something we haven't seen yet?

cool! i always liked the shockwave/dinobots/prehistoric conflict thing from the early marvel run and felt that it pretty much got forgotten about after it was mentioned (apart from Icarus Factor/Dinobot Hunt really), so if this is a modern re-telling of that, then i'm definitely looking forward to it.
and if it's not, i'm still looking forward to it... Shockers is one of my all time faves!

its too soon for Galvy, you have to eastblish how powerfull everyone els is then have him come in and **** em all up.
except Prime of course who can kick his arse.
Geratto see Roche finally getting to to strip work for IDW, and on a similar note this cover for Generations 7 is freaking genius:
Kick! Punch! Yoga Flame!

Seriously if I worked at Hasbro this would be simple...
Nice that one of the crappest TF stories ever ever ever ever can spawn such a cool pic.

Prime could just...
have his gun.
Man, a 2D marvel super heroes style TF game by Capcom would be the nuts.
admitedly transformations would be reduced to a few special moves, but still...
ah, think of the hyper moves - level 3, Megs goes balckhole, Starscream calls in the other Seekers to bomb your ass, Prime's trailer base turns up and blasts you, Galvy turns to cannon mode, Soundwave looses all the cassettes, Constructicon's merge for the kill...
i am having a geek orgasm as i type this ****.

This stuff writes itself really... how hard could it be? -multiplayer gestalt teams... erm
I was thinking a Capcom fighter myself, damm if I was less lazy theres this bit of software u can use as a fighting game base, and then u can put your own characters in, most ppl use it to combine all the streetfighter/mortal kombat characters etc... into one game. It would be possible to do one for transformers I suppose.
The differens is, with the other games ppl just copy the sprites out of the games and then allow the software to stapple moves together etc, u would obviously have to hand draw all the TF frame by frame... still it would be rather mental...

There is such a game... albeit fan-made. One of Galvy's special moves is to summon Trypticon who blasts the whole screen...Best First wrote:Prime could just...

I'll try to find it for you.
About Shockwave - man once again I feel compelled to actually order a comic. It's not cheap where I live, y'know. But heck... Shockwave on the Savage Land! It's like back to the basics...
That cover is great. Presonaly I like it, even if he's 'long in the ears'.

Surprised Furman has time to do the 'Spotlight' series, they could've tried out some new talent. But then not many people know these characters better.
Could turn out to be Aspects of Evil on a bigger budget!
all the one-shots tie into IDW's main continuity [Infiltration/Stormbringer/Escalation] so i wouldnt want anybody other than simon to write these
oh and Nick Roche FTW!!!

Am I the only one that likes the basic idea for the fighting-stage in Afterlife?
I thought it was pretty cool, gave me a bit of a Tron-feel. And has no-one else theoretisized that the porting and adaption the Transformers makes, basically running the game partially on their brain-modules could in fact have lead to the game-characters evolving into primitive Artificial Intelligence?
Thereby it being completely motivated for Prime and the other Autobots to feeling as strongly about protecting the game-inhabitants.

Been looking forward to seeing some of Nick Roche's interior work, that Shockwave pic (which I love, and w00 check out the Dinobot silhouettes!) and the premise behind this story all combine to make this comic sound totally great.
Looking forward to it a lot now.
BB, do you mean the Mugen game thing?

Sadly it's in spanish yet--- but seems to have been worked on since I've last seen it in 2003... :P
