Apparently Scorponok will be in it! Don't know if this sounds promising or not.

Personally, I think it does. Especially the part where Spielberg is a very hands-on creative Producer for this, seems he's got lots of scenes that he'd like to see in this movie.
Scorponok? Sounds like a new take on the big guy, with sub-terranean capabilities. The part where he uses his tail as a barbeque-stick for fleshies sounds rather fitting with the pre-Headmaster Scorps.

"Their War. Our World."
good tag line.
alwys like dthe idea of TF's fighting in the middle of citiies - lots of scope for carnage.
the ridiculous fanboy in me flight a slight leap of rage at the notion that Prime hasa mouth and that what we have been seeing all these years is his 'battle mask' - what?
overall sounds vaguely promising i think - roll on the 4th of July...

Could that be Motormaster that Prime is chasing?
Scorponok as well. They have aleady gone more leftfield than I expected in terms of characters. Still concened that the "one boy and his car" aspect might be a bit cheesy, but most of that sounded quite pleasing!

"Bay then showed me a rough design for the TRANSFORMERS teaser poster. It was a robotic eye overlooking planet Earth, kind of peeking over the curvature of the globe. The eye was in a brow the shape of a right triangle and looked very mechanical, iris and all. The tagline was "Their War. Our World.""
Awesome! Great tag line, and I like the ominous teaser poster set up with the Transformers eye. Says "for mature audiences too" from the outset.

"But the Costa story featuring Starscream? Fantastic! This guy is "The One", I just know it, just from these few pages. "--Yaya, who is never wrong.

That interview gets me psyched!
*looks at Seibertron.com's countdown to the movie*
...less psyched.
I love that there are people on other boards saying, "It's AICN, you can't trust their stuff!" when this is an INTERVIEW with the DIRECTOR. Rather difficult to fudge that one, guys...

Maybe he should read some comics drawn by Wildman or watch Beast Wars...but Bay said the robots, and Optimus Prime especially, had to show emotion and you couldn't do that with just glowing red eyes.
I was never a fan a of TFs with pupils (Jose Delbo, anyone?) and I hope they won't change the simple eyes. I'm sure there are optic mechanisms behind their eyes, but the point of the non-transparent glass is to protect the mechanism. Maybe they could show it when the eyes become battle-damaged ("I'll rip out your optics, Prime!")
I'm glad Scorpy is at least considered as a cast member. Would be nice if they used the G1 version, though the Energon cartoon type was kinda based on that too.
Uh-oh... am I the only one who shuddered when reading this part? What hooked him was Shia LaBeouf's character, a teen that is getting his first car. He said that rite of passage for a teenage boy, that of getting your first car, is something he connected with and gave him a human angle to get involved emotionally with the story.
I hope the writers are more familiar with TF canon then to think it's a big'toy commercial'.
If they start the movie like this, they'll get sued by Pat Lee. And Chris Sarracini... and Lazarus. We talked a bit about the beginning of the movie. It starts in the Antarctica with a man chipping away at a giant ice wall. Something happens, his dogs run away and ice wall opens, the man falling into an icy cave, sliding down into the earth. When he stops, the camera pulls back and shows him resting in a giant robotic hand, half in and half out of the ice. I saw this piece in production art and it was very atmospheric with giant shapes in the surrounding ice walls and the tiny man resting in the palm of a robot.
Mostly looking forward to this part... But, umm, then the Cons don't hail from Cybertron?Bay later revealed that although this is the beginning of the movie, it isn't the first thing we see. Bay's words were, "We will actually see Cybertron," which is the planet where the Autobots hail from.
I hope so, I really do.I also really got a sense that Bay wanted to hit that tough spot that balances respect for the source material and fans of the source material on one side and what's best for a feature film on the other. He could have just as easily said, "[composite word including 'f*ck'] the fans, I'm making my movie," but he mentioned many times throughout the conversation how he wanted to make the fans happy.
Man, now I can't wait for July the 4.!
