MP-03...STARSCREAM?!?!

Post by Professor Smooth » Tue Mar 14, 2006 8:13 am

No, Smoothamaniacs, your eyes are not playing tricks. I have actually updated the rumor forum. Why? Well, because there's actually a RUMOR that's worth discussing!

This image was found on the Toys Daily forum.

Now...what is it? There are several possibilities.

Possibility 1) It's fake!

Possibility 2) It's the Alternators version of Starscream packaged as a Masterpiece figure instead of a Binaltech.

Possibility 3) TakaraTomy, without a main TF line to sell, are continuing the Masterpiece line of Transformers.

Possibility 4) It's REALLY fake!

I haven't a clue. You probably don't either. Feel free to speculate.

First person to say something to the effect of "it's gonna suck" before anything else comes out gets a very smooth boot up their duct.

Smooth's hoggin' it up again! :D

I think it's a fake, I mean... Toys Daily?? Are we to believe a japanese person that is a high-up designer for TakaraTomy is to go around posting that stuff??

Also, if anyone asks me, it looks a bit more anime-ish than MP Prime, even tho it's just a concept.

I WANT to believe....kind of...

I mean, I'd LOVE an MP Starscream, but it seems like if they're going to move him to MP, the chances of us ever seeing non car BT/Alts is shot.

It's not Starscream.

It's Sunstorm.

I bet you it's true. Seriously. If I win, I get your first born. If I lose, you get... uhm... Rebis. Yeah, that's fair.

You can all relax - it's 100% not Sunstorm. Look at the right top corner of the pic - only Screamer has a crown like that... :)

This pic looks utterly familiar, I browsed through my TF Generations book because I thought it's from there, but it wasn't....

ZOMFG!!!

Well I'll be damned... well that's... incredible.

But why are we getting Starscream before Megatron?? :???:

Maybe it's because it's impossible for them to actually release a correct Masterpiece Gun-Megatron outside of Japan I suppose.

so far there won't even be a MP Starscream outside of Japan

the reason for no MP Megs is probably the scale: if they want to have a decent sized gun, then Megs will be about as tall as the original toy, and if Megs' robot mode will be decent, then the altmode would be too large

other than that Takara can make many official repaints out of Starscream, thus a more profitable mold than Megatron

Hello,

Its the concept sketches for Starscream for Transformers the Movie 1986 (animated). Specifically the scene of Starscreams' coronation as new Decepticon leader. A lot of scenes were farmed out to Anime companies to keep to the production schedule, this is one of them. You can tell by the larger intake valves (chest boxes) in the scene. As well as the style of animation.

In the picture above, note the crown on Starscreams' head (upper right) that is how I knew which sketches it was.

Why that awful colour scheme, it's like a cross between Screamer and Thundercracker.

Why on Earth not the original colours for one of the two instead of (IMO) a horrible combo on an otherwise great looking figure.

Yeah, my only complaint about this great toy is the paintjob... why grey not white? People say it's to make him a more realistic military plane, but hey, we KNOW they are gonna do Skywarp and TC and they will hardly be colored in a realistic way, so why screamer?

Btw, I really liked the legs on the first protype better...

I always justified Screamer's original paint job through stunt planes, ok it's not a Blue Angel (I Think that's what the American version of the Red Arrows are called) colour scheme but it's a fictional world and an air display team could be made to use that colour sceam in said fictional world.

Why if they wanted the more realistic look, did they not go the whole hog? I'd accept that more.
