Steam Driven Transformers in the 1800's! Chuck Dixon writes and Ted McKeever pencils the first arc of Transformers: Evolutions entitled "Hearts of Steel." The first issue's wraparound cover can be seen on IDW's message board, and here it is.
Thanks to Denyer and Chris Ryall for the news and pic, respectively.

Would've gotten around to posting here as well eventually, honest. Just getting distracted by other stuff...
Apparent the writer is big in Batman circles. Bes a good thing if it makes some new fans, anyway.
I'm hoping this will be more similar to LoEG/Hellboy than the G.I. Joe crossovers set in the past. Needs to have a premise more meaty than just redesigning some characters.
The Victorians were big on international threats, conspiracy theories and wacky science. There's plenty of potential there; enough that it doesn't need to get too anachronistic either in the ideas or the dialogue.

"This morning I was listening to an interview with comics writer Chuck Dixon on a podcast downloaded from John Siuntres' Wordballoon site and Chuck spilled some interesting news. He says he's working on a 4 issue Transformers series for IDW that features steam-driven Transformers back in the 1800's. The artist for the series is Ted McKeever." --> http://www.wordballoon.com/DIXON.html
