Near the end of October, I'd heard rumblings that IDW had been successful in their attempts at getting the father of The Transformers, Bob Budiansky, to write some new TF material. I have spent the last month trying to find anything to either confirm or deny that. As you've probably guessed, I've failed. The scraps that I have been able to dig up wouldn't even be worth tossing into the smelting pool. So what I'm left with is little to no real information. Guess there's no reason to trouble you any further with this one, eh?
WRONG! I spent years at Seibertron spreading all sorts of crap that had even LESS grounding in reality than this one. Jetfire being reissued, anybody? So, in true old-skool fashion, here's what may wind up happening based on speclation and little to no real information!

IDW's doing a series of "elseworlds" styled comics that involve no real continuity. Think All-Star Superman or Ultimate Marvel Team-Up. If Big Bad Bob is actually producing some new TF stuff, smart money would be that he'll do an issue (or six) of this.
Don't feel like betting on the smart pick? Just smart enough to know that The Smooth One's first choice is about as reliable as Starscream with an open shot? How about this? The whispered Transformers: 1984 mini-series (haven't heard about it? That's alright, the guy I heard about it from makes me look like Tim Formas by comparison) could be Budianski's mini-series retelling the original 1984 origin of the TFs. We all NEED another TF origin, don't we? Of course we do! This time, Grimlock's a bi-polar penguin!
I'll update this when/if any more "information" becomes available. This will likely come about shortly after (or during) another all-night-all-day bender.
Thanks for reading.
If you didn't get the reference in the pic, you're not buying Pat Lee's Spider-Man comics and should be commended. I'm not buying them, but I'm still readin' 'em. I'm worse off that you, I swear.
Transfans disclaimer: There was an all-night-all-day bender and we were not invited? You owe us!
Yes, masters.
