TransFans talk Death's Head, Transformers IDW-style and the final days of Dreamwave with the Furminator, including a few tantalising hints about Infiltration.

How'd ya score this one?? :eek: {reads}

EDIT:
Furman wrote:there’s the big summer ‘event,’ which is pretty much under wraps currently. All I will tell you, is that it introduces a truly kick-ass menace... and it’s NOT Unicron.
What could this possibly be?? I just keep thinking about Leige Maximo but.. no way! We know it is also equally 'no way' to be the Fallen, or multiple such as him. So uh... I've got no clue.
Furman wrote:They have to get the tone and pitch just right. But can they possibly match the sheer kick-ass spectacle of the original (animated) movie? It’s going to be tough... that movie rocked... big time!
Well, it's official now. :D Sorry Besters, but the movie kicked tail! HEH!

I can hear the screams now.. from some dark halls filled with marvel comic-only super-hardcore fans.. :) "NOOoo! It's impossible! Madness! Nothing out of the cartoon, or in any way related to it could ever possibly spawn even one useful concept!!"

Top class interview - Ah you see the wonder of the admin forum already told me this was cool!

Its interesting to read about how he feels he developed as a writter, he makes it sound like the early G1 marvel days were luck? surely not, talent more like.

Cheers Simon :)

I don't think there are many hardcore Marvel US-only fans, and the Marvel UK material drew heavily from the movie.

If we never see Unicron in this continuity it'll be too soon. :)
The plain fact was, I realised, I didn’t want to just tell the same story again. Instead, I looked back at what had been done before and I asked key questions like: does this still work?
Fills me with hope.

Good work, you. :)

A grand TF conspiracy that goes back to Earth’s prehistory and rolls on into a first contact scenario in 1984? :eyebrow: Does it involve a pool of goo under the bottom of the ocean? :o

Anyway, franklu i love the fact that he actually sticks it to Pat. Maybe thi smkes me a bad gossip mongering human being but Lee seems to have got not nearly enough flak IMO.

Quite excited about Death's Head. And Issue 0. And the ongoing (and Serenity).

Top work lads and props to Mr. F for doing the interview.

I like what I'm hearing about Infiltration, though it doesn't exactly tie in with the "Epics have to be earned" ethos we were hearing from Ryall...sounds ike Furman is planning an epic all of his ownsome for this...
I would have waited a ******* eternity for this!!!!

Yeah, Pat finally gets from SF what he deserves.

I'm sad that Cybertron comic is nowhere to be seen.It was Simon's Armada and Energon comics that made me even remotely interested in these series.

Btw, in the next interview, ask him about Shockwave and the "Shockwave did it" syndrome. And mostly, if he plans to use him in IDW or give ol' one-eye a well-deserved rest (after all, he had the whole Cybertron running).

DH, good, new design - bad. Hope they lose most of the Minion bits, asFurman hinted, and go back to Ol' version 1.0 personality.

That was the most interesting interview I've ever read with a TF creator. A bit miffed that we won't see Prime until at least MAY of next year, though.

I wouldn't be surprised if he puts in a part appearance through radio messages before that... but I do like the focus on characters other than leaders. Both #0 and #1 look to be reassuringly fast-paced, too.
though it doesn't exactly tie in with the "Epics have to be earned" ethos we were hearing from Ryall...
Would you say G2 #1 was an epic? Hopefully it'll be a redefining event like that rather than "bad guy of the week" stuff.

Then well done Spidy.

Y'know, I don't think I had this level of can't-wait anticipation about anything TF since I was about 12 years old. And that interview has got me all boyed up even more.........

And now I hate Pat Lee even more....... :x

dude, Pat is not worthy of your hate.

Think instead of the karmic retribution that is hurtling toward him and pity his sub-human talentless balloon animal ass.

Damn straight.

"Why did you leave your last job, Mr. Bisley?"
"It was a...difference of opinion."
"Pat Lee's House of M: Iron Man?"
"...yeah."
"You didn't like it then?"
"No."
*taps nose*
"I'll get some money out to you this week."

Hey, cool. I likes me some Rich and LitG.

Good going, that spidey.

incidentally, I met a TF comic fan who's buying Iron Man: House of M, t'other day.
'Even with the Pat Lee?' says I.
'I love Pat Lee', he says.
'But he tanked his company and screwed over lots of people and the thing with the car and condo and the strippers and the not paying of the people!' says I.
'Yeah, allright,' says he, 'but his art's great'.

I had to go have a cigarette.

For the love of Primus I can't understand how people can like his art. Even his humans look all the same... Same faces, Imean.

I'm torn on this. I'm absolutely thrilled that the interview is getting exposure on the hands down BEST comics news site on the planet. But Mr. Johnston is also the guy who told me that if I wanted to copy/paste any of the blurbs he's done on Pat Lee in the past for one of my rumors (which was eventually scrapped, btw) that I'd have to pay him. Still, this is a good thing.

Stick to relevant quotes, add some flavour text and voila—fair use by purpose of news and review.
