Botcon - After Cybertron?

SFC has just walked out of the Hasbro Panel at Day 3 of BotCon 2005. We have our first updates with news of an all new Transformers series to run between Cybertron and the Movie. This is major stuff! Think Alternators meets Cybertron.

Cyberton story concept written on a taco bell napkin:

Retool
o Same mold, adding detail
o Good for small changes
o Surface detail only

New Parts
o Swapping out parts from a mold for 100% newly made parts
o Good for heads
o Weapons
o Replace an entire mold

New Tools
- Total new mold
- Fact: you cannot rework steel dramatically
- If a TF is 15% different it is a new mold
- You cannot add size to a mold

Proposal for After Cybertron
Alternator’s Realism/Cybertron Playability. Example figures shown:

o G1, modern take on Starscream - F15, highly detailed.
PICS (Bot & Vehicle): Starscream is kind of like a cross between a modern Macross figure, and a larger Robot Masters Starscream in vehicle mode. It looks almost exactly like a F-15 display model. In bot mode it's pretty menacing with some HUGE guns on his arms.

o Megatron as a gun. Huge - revolver-like, but obviously fake.
PIC (Bot): For a comparison of what the gun looks like. It kind of looks like the gun from 'Judge Dredd', but with a fat scope on the top of it.

NOTE: One thing to note is it this series not even really set in stone....it is just a proposal for the filler series.

I say again - if they make Megs into say, a futuristic laser gun, there's no way the toy laws can ban him. I mean, surely even in the USA there are such guns on sale, like water spurters and other kids guns? They are plentiful here...

It's cool! it's innovative... etc. They can also make him a triple changer, turning into a tank AND a gun. They did it quite well with Sixshot...

yeah, with his amazing disguises of... looking like sixshot with his legs bent in different ways.

Or Galvy, his alt modes weren't rubbish.

what? oh.

Shockwave is about the only decent gun TF. Because he is a big flying gun. Handguns though = pants.

Man... that was one of the few issues that had any sort of kewl-worth.

What is about to become the awesomeness of G2-Megs opening up a can of whoop-ass on the Cobra-troops, showing blatant disregard for the disgusting, to his purposes, useless blobs of carbon proto-plasm.

Almost crushing away the creature that's in the way of his sensors scanning a piece of potential hardware!

The laughability of that little vermin Cobra Commander, who obviously has no clue as to who he's dealing with!

I like the idea of megs being a gun because to me it sums up what hes all about.
Most Autobots are caring robots, thier alt modes offering them an ablity to 'help' save ppl, or perhaps, help build somthing.

Decepticons are war machines, thier alt modes are purely designed for destruction.

Megatrons alt mode was a gun, and to me, the 'gun' is single purest form of modern warfare - it kind of sums megs up, as 'I just kill things' he has no other ablity other then to kill.

Which he could do as a Tank or as any other war tool. A puny gun needs someone to use it. Well that really sums up what Megatron was in almost all stories, a lethal badass who did a lot but in the end felt incomplete.

Although a Shockwave type of gun would be awesome

But a tank is a car with a gun - that dilutes the form. the gun is the purest war weapon.

If it worked for shockwave, then why not megs?

He doesnt always need to be held by someone as he can fly, but I like the concept that he is held and 'used' by someone else. it strengths the idea that again he can only be used to kill. it singles out his sole purpose. it makes him more evil, if thats possible, by design.

Best Megs alt mode ever - Japanese Ultra and Super Megatron. Will get you pics of those alt-modes... Flying gun with lots of extra firepower (rockets, etc) added, and a design that makes Shockwave cry his eye out.
