Galaxy Force to be cancelled in Japan?

Post by Best First » Tue Aug 23, 2005 11:41 am

Transfandom have posted the following RUMOUR:

"RUMOR: The end of Japanese TFs...?
TFD Forums member HMRC4EVR saw fit to drop this note to us concerning the future - or perhaps non-future - of Takara/Tomy Transformers. Keep in mind, this is solely in the realm of rumor right now, but this has the potential to be a large development in the realm of TFs if it proves to be true.

Quote:
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Hi guys! I just got an email from from a friend who I have been trading toys with for almost two years now and he said this in his latest email:

"...the sales of Galaxy Force (Cybertron) figures are very bad in Japan and Takara will cancel later figures. Only four figures (black Leobreaker, Galvatron, Soundwave and Metroplex) will be sold and all the others are cancelled..."

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

According to HMRC4EVR, this friend of his has an excellent track record when it comes to Takara TF details, but nonetheless, we'll still file this as a rumor until some sort of verification comes from Takara or one of their distributors."

ooer missus. If this is true what will it mean for future TF line,s especially in light of the Takara/Tomy merge?

I'm not surprised some aren't selling well, lots of repaints, some very shoddy toys, people would rather buy reissues and thats the problem.

if true, wich I dont think it is, yet.

Maybe the TF-brand will become entirely Hasbro USA controlled, no more shoddy anime, no more voltron. Back to things were during the BW years. :o

One can only dream, no? ;)

What part of Beast Wars years do you not understand? The Mainframe animation was far from shoddy, (WHY am I even saying this? Blimey!) and NO, no pretender classics, but TM2 Megs.

As far as I can understand it, the idea of Beast Wars originated from the US, and most of the sculpts in the line was made in west, by western designers.

The japanese jumped on the wagon with BW2 and BW Neo when they saw that it acctually worked, but they did NOT think up the idea.

Besters, are you really feeling well? :???: Cause we seem to have ourselves a massive case of scrambled communication here.

not sure Tomy would cancel TF's, they have in the past been a successful franchise. Maybe they would cancel this line, but I'm sure transforming robots would return soon enough- they've just been too much of a regular feature of Japanese toys for too long to not make money some where. And if you're going to release transforming robots, you might as well use your existing brand name...

It looks to me as if Takara overstretched themselves wiith GF is all - there seem to be a lot more figures in this line than there were in Energon or Armada. Perhaps a little consolidation is what's called for.

And I wouldn't be surprised to see the extra figures not produced for GF popping up elsewhere in fututre...
I would have waited a ******* eternity for this!!!!

Is oversaturation even a possibility for the Japanese market? I mean, BT, Cybertron, RM, reissues, etc.

I don't see why Cybertron isn't selling better. Those are some damn fine figs.

Regardless, they'll have more poop for us to buy come 2007. lol

I have a lot of Galaxy force stuff, it is mostly fantastic. I am gutted that the line could be cancelled although it only seems to be a few figures that have been cancelled.

I hope that Tomy/Takara continue to develop Transformers, I would hate to see it left soley to Hasbro. I cant see them dropping the line, especially with e big budget film on the horizon.

It could work in a positive way also, Tomy may think 'why the [composite word including 'f*ck'] havent we released good Transformers in the reissue line, instead of Kup and Wheelie' Surely any toy company could see that Dinobot reissues = ££$$

This might explain the trimmed-down prices on GF figs in this place I know here in Singapore. Nitro Convoy for US$11.92, Live Convoy for US$17.93, smaller ones like Jackshot and Gasket for US$5.94 each, Starscream for US$20.85.

Nope, you're right..,. and Ijust don't know how I will raise the funds to buy 'em.

When Energon came out, Ilooked at the first wave of toys and liked only two toys...

When GF came out, I liked them all!

Still, in terms of storytelling, the Western studios are much better. (See Paul Dini's team or BW) and I don't care much for animation, as long as it's not aPoketron cartoon like all jap. TF cartoons since Armada.

However I really would take this rumor with a grain of salt... Takara just brought out Soundwave, Megalo Convoy, Autovolt, Life Convoy, Rumble, etc., all really great figures. Though, it worries me there are no pics yet of the other Gigalonian toys...

The other odd thing is that normally when a series is coming to an end, like GF clearly is, you have an idea of what is coming next.

However there has been no mention of a follow up to GF....

Part of me hopes we get a break for 6 months. I'm spent...

Hmm, it's only endof 2005. When 2004 ended, did we have any rumors about Cybertron/GF? I think we only knew about the end wave of Energon.

Plus, lots of figures have gotten their Cybertron package (Crosswise, Red Alert rocket tank) and they have'nt appeared on GF yet.

Well, I hope no-ones missed the talk at Botcon from Hasbro? Apparently there'll be a G1-inspired intermediary line, wich won't last very long, inbetween Cybertron and The Movie Line!

This is what's going to be the next line. :D Can't wait to see em'.

Btw, the blue colours on that 3D-rep of Moledive looks so much better than the shock-pink that the prototype had.

those arent toys Backscatter ;)

but there are rumors that those 2 might get a japanese release after all, after their cartoon appearance (I'm leaning towards TRU excusives like Buildron last year)

It never ceases to amaze me, how Hasbro/Takara gives out such large toys with such primitive transformations... Blender is OK, but Moledive? He just kneels and closes those shovels, that's all... Pity 'cause the alt mode rocks.

Btw. who's the little red con in front of Metroplex?
