Ghostbusters Reboot with all female leads

I cannot for the life of me see how this will work.
What the [composite word including 'f*ck'] are they thinking?
I can't think of one even okish action-comedy with a female lead(s). Bar a few exceptions, women by themselves are just not funny.
All my opinion of course.
Cast is ******* ***** as well. The one woman I can think of who is genuinely funny, and writes funny - Tina Fey.
Nowhere near it though.

I love Kirsten Wigg and Melissa Macarthy so I'm all for this.
Having an all new cast (regardless of gender) at least separates the movie enough from the originals to be able to judge them on their own merits.

Re: Ghostbusters Reboot with all female leads
Bridesmaids and The Heat are genuinely hilarious movies with female leads. (Coincidentally both movies actually deal with matters beyond romantic interests. Funny how allowing female characters to be more than romantic interests made the movies better...who would have thought...)
Amy Poehler is drop dead hilarious in Parks and Recreation, and Chelsea Peretti is killing it on Brooklyn 99.
Anyways, in regards to Ghostbusters, Kristen Wiig and Melissa McCarthy are damn funny. (Ignoring McCarthy's TV sitcom. That show is pretty horrendous, but most sitcoms are.) If anyone can pull off a new Ghostbusters, I'd easily throw my vote in with Wiig and McCarthy.

Dude, Bridesmaids is ******* terrible!
Melissa Mccarthy is ****. She's like a fat woman Will Ferrell. Who I've laughed once or twice at, but imo generally isn't great.
You know exactly what they're going to do, be an awkwardly over the top wierd basically. And once you know the punchline, the joke wears thin quickly.
I like Amy Poehler in AD, but then she's working with Will Arnett and their dynamic is funny.
I went and watched the others doing standup on Youtube. The "lady Winston" is ******* garbage. Standard "I'm **** with men and crazy" schtick that loads of women comedians go for (Miranda, Sarah Milican, Shappi Khorsandi...)
I've been doing a bit of stand-up myself recently, this is a very common theme. Utterly unoriginal, i'm meeting girls ripping each other's and popular acts off. Which aren't even funny - beause when you know the ******* punchline, what is?
Utterly banal to me. Seems to strike a chord with... women who are **** with men and crazy.
My general opinion: Male comedians appeal to everybody, women in the main... just to women.
Who are **** with men and crazy.
I guess that is what my worry is. They're going to make something awesome about being **** with men and crazy. That's great, go make that film if you like but I'd prefer they didn't dress it up as Ghostbusters and make another Ghostbusters film.

Eh, I still think Bridesmaids is a great movie.
I do agree that too many female comedians seem to think that only by being self deprecating to the extreme can they get any laughs. There's a fine line between self deprecating and straight up insulting one's self for laughs.

Re: Ghostbusters Reboot with all female leads
I'm all for this. I thought the Robocop Reboot was far better than it had any right to be, but it still suffered from being the Robocop Reboot. At least this is doing something new with the franchise and won't just be a watered-down nostalgia fest. Everybody involved with the project has a resume that lends credibility to it. Much like Ramis, Akroyd, and Murray were already well-respected comedic actors, this new cast has established itself in plenty of other hilarious stuff.
Would have liked to see TIna Fey in there, but I'd have liked to see John Candy in Ghostbusters, so...win some, lose some.
I really *do* hope that Bill Murray does the "Janine" role. That would be trolling on an unmeasurable scale.

Compared to the original it was ****** gash.Professor Smooth wrote:I'm all for this. I thought the Robocop Reboot was far better than it had any right to be, but it still suffered from being the Robocop Reboot. .
Its an ok'ish sci fi film that is dull as [composite word including 'f*ck']. the original was a masterpiece of script, casting, story telling, and screenplay. its still awesome today.
Bridesmade is ****.
Yeah i dont get this all new female cast in ghostbusters, I think these women have a huge task to live up too, best of luck as they are going to need it. Not just because they are women but im not sure this
group is as talented as the original.
What i fear is you will end up with the robocop sequel - an ok'ish spin on the original but is ultimately a forgettable pile of **** you wont watch again.

An all-female main cast and no Tracy the Gorilla? Pfft!
