Will it make a billion worldwide?

If the Ivory Tower is the brain of the board, and the Transformers discussion is its heart, then General Discussions is the waste disposal pipe. Or kidney. Or something suitably pulpy and soft, like 4 week old bananas.

Looks amazingly well done and it's got a great lead role. I think this is going to be a huge deal:

Quicksilver and the Scarlet Witch were good in it.

Though the fact they were married did make me think of Ultimates 3, which isn't something I like to do.

Fortunately there was lots and lots of giant lizard action to take my mind off it.

Oh sorry wait. No there wasn't.

Umm....this topic has to do with the new Godzilla movie.

Heard it wasn't being well received in Japan. But here in the States people seem to like it.

Haven't seen it yet but can't wait.

Considering it won't even be *out* in Japan for another few months, I can see why the reception has been tepid... ;)

i can see how Yaya has got confused - that is why actors should only be allowed to play one person ever - to prevent this kind of thing.

Ah. I see. Only read the first two lines and thought "there he goes".

I've heard that as a common complaint with this movie. Not enough Godzilla. But I kind of agree with that strategy. It worked with Jaws. And is there any movie of the history in the universe as good as Jaws?

Mallrats.

And the shark in Jaws wasn't a beloved 50 year old character appearing in his ~30th film.

I have no history with Godzilla (except for the 1998 version with ******* Léon!!) - but I love Cranston. His performance in Breaking Bad is superb. This film is more like... CranstZilla or something. I wanna see Cranston dominate.
Can't believe I'm still here.

Saw it, loved it. I agree that it could have used more Godzilla, particularly as the pacing in the first half of the movie is quite...deliberate at times, but the latter half is suitably epic.

Overall I prefer Pacific Rim as the better "Monster" movie, but Godzilla was an immensely enjoyable experience.

Fully agreed Mr Putron.

The pacing I thought was great up until the point where we started cutting away whenever the good **** was about to go down. Back end of the film made up for it, but I was a bit fed up by that point.

Much preferred Pacific Rim. Make your own "rim" jokes at home kids!

Er, yeah. May want to rein in your Cranstonxpectations a bit.

So I saw it last night.

I was pleased. I could see what people meant by not enough Godzilla, but I don't think that was the problem. I thought there was just the right amount of Godzilla. The problem was that it was too long a movie. Needed to be about thirty minutes shorter and would have been perfect.

Cranston should have also been in it for the duration as the lead actor in this was just annoying But the special effects were fantastic and I think this movie did better than any I've seen in conveying a sense of scale of these creatures.

It's been greenlit already for a sequel given it's success, and rumor has it that it will feature a certain giant moth, with a third film hinted at featuring his main nemesis, King Ghidorah.

This movie could have used a bit of camp ala Pacific Rim. Nevertheless I really enjoyed it.

Once they finish up the first trilogy with King Ghidora, how about a cross-over with Peter Jackson's King Kong?

It will be an entire second trilogy!

Wow. Godzilla's falling hard. :(

Thought it would be a major hit. I mean, it's still considered a big hit as the budget was $160 million, but really thought given the buzz it would be huge.

I guess that one hour absence of Godzilla in the beginning of the movie really hurt it. Word of mouth has not been good because of it.
