"Our journey into mystery". YAY AWFUL IN-JOKES!
After Amy Acker was the doc on Dollhouse, it's good to see another Jossface get the doctor's job here.
That Skye bird's lovely, though very Lizzy Duckshoot in mannerisms.
Fine line between continuity and "CHITAURI! GAMMA! ERSKINE SERUM! EXTREMIS!"
Promising, though.

Re: Marvel's Agents of W.H.E.D.O.N.
Before Avengers hit the cinemas I remember thinking that this just has to be great and then it was, maybe even better. Same here.
I think my favourite bit was when Son of Coul turned the tables during the interrogation and shot Ward with truth serum.
It was often very funny which I always appreciate from this sort of movies/TV shows.
Oh, and one of the first comments after first teaser featuring "Don't touch Lola" bit back then on Bleeding Cool was that "this car has to fly, right?'" Not as awesome like "Roads? Where we're going, we don't need roads", but still very satisfying.

Anyway, i liked it - it was Whedony. Few reviews seem to be saying it hasn't got off to as much of a flyer as Buffy but i think that's nonsense - wasn't perfect and some of the characters remain fairly undefined but there is time yet.

I haven't watched it yet, but saying it isn't perfect like Buffy yet is a bit nuts isn't it? Buffy was pretty kick butt out of the gate, but it was by no means perfect. It really took until S2 and 3 to hit its stride and develop the characters we know and love. Expecting an intro episode to do all that is a bit crazy.

yeah that is what i was trying to say - think people are nostalgising a bit too much.
Which obviously we, the denziens of transfans, would never do.
Mmm, childhood robots.

This hasn't been rocking my world so far. It looks a million dollars (let's face it, it probably is), some of the characters have potential, and it has some exceptional set pieces (those cars flying through the air in episode 3!) but the episodes as a whole aren't that exciting.
Just how much is Whedon involved? I know he was all over the first episode but I'm not feeling his hand in it so much now.
But if Ian Hart's character turn's out to be the season's Big Bad, well, that's reason enough to stick around.

If Graviton is the best villain they can come up with, the show's got serious issues.

not watched 3 yet, i have enjoyed it so far tho.
Graviton was reasonably scary in Thunderbolts but yeah you would think someone like Moses Magnum or Count Nefaria (just for his amazing name) might be better.

"Seriously, your name is Nefaria? Was Earl Bad taken?"
I'm going to give it the benefit of the doubt and assume that whatever the arrangement with Universal was means they don't have access to The Leader or Abomination.
Wouldn't be surprised to see somebody like the Absorbing Man wheeled out, as I think he'd work in context (preferably with a tweaked origin, but who knows). The Wrecking Crew? Lulz.
Moonstone is plausible. Crossbones? Played straight the Taskmaster could work. Bring back Hydra, or rework AIM a little bit. Me wants to see a live action MODOK.
And of course now that Marvel have got the Daredevil rights back we can have Bullseye and The Kingpin. The Kingpin! Though not really SHIELD's thang.
Madame Masque and Parker Robbins?
All hail Dormammu.
Considering how many villains there are in the Marvel universe, it's surprising how few of them are actually any cop.
So long as we get a Rand Industries cameo, I don't care.

At least they haven't concieved of an entire line wide event just to point this out.Brendocon wrote: Marvel universe, it's surprising how few of them are actually any cop.
Anyway, it's suddenly obvious: Zemo. But tweaked to not... wear a sock on his head.
Re: Marvel's Agents of W.H.E.D.O.N.
So I've just seen episode 16.
Nice cameoing from Agent Sitwell and his "Well I'm off to be in The Winter Soldier now" bit. Slightly undermined in the UK by us already having had that movie, but points for intent.
Also realised that the patchiness (OH THE PATCHINESS) of this series so far probably hasn't been helped by the fact that it's had 13 different directors work on it (this week's episode being number 3 for the only guy to have done multiples). Though apparently upcoming eps are all by returning directors. It's certainly not solely to blame, but it certainly doesn't help.
Actual plot developments going on. The arrival of Deathlok (yeah I know) and we finally get a reveal on The Clairvoyant. A reveal tha makes sense in context and everything, but still is a little bit disappointing given the characters involved.
Shame they've left it this late though.
Some nice ideas floating around. Nice to see them integrate Asgard by guesting Lorelei in previous weeks (the same week she was in Loki: Agent of Asgard, coincidentally enough) and also teasing a Kree for Guardians.
All far too slow and uneven and generally dull. A slew of EXCITING STUFF HAPPENING doesn't change the fact it's been not very good far too many times.
Still hoping for the last episode to be The Hood turning up and killing everybody. Cue Doctor Strange movie.

Re: Marvel's Agents of W.H.E.D.O.N.
Speaking of Superhero TVshows, anyone watch "Arrow"? (I'm not sure if a CW Network TV show gets aired in the UK but worth checking.)
It's DC Comics latest live action TV show except this time the main character is Green Arrow (obviously from the title)
It's in its second season, it's quite good and reinforces the narrative that DC should stick to TV. (Batman Animated Series etc) It's quite clearly inspired in a lot of ways by Batman Begins, and it is helped by a really great supporting cast. That and Stephen Amell really pulls off being Oliver Queen quite well.
Still have not watched any of Agents of Shield yet. I think that makes me a bad person, but unfortunately I have yet to meet anyone who has said "You really need to catch up on that show!"

I guess they didn't think about the rest of the world when they did that, but it works for the US crowd.Brendocon wrote:Nice cameoing from Agent Sitwell and his "Well I'm off to be in The Winter Soldier now" bit. Having seen the movie, it seems to enhance the show, because now it looks like three separate things (the movie thing, the Clairvoyant and the May thing, which appears to be neither of the above) are going on at the same time and it's a lovely mess, in a positive way.
Because, like Brend says above, it's just so average. Sometimes good, sometimes not.* And when it's good the not so good elements are still present. If you ever have the opportunty you might check out the pilot (and the second episode, because it really feels like a second part of the pilot). I liked the done-in-one missions that the show had going on in the beginning, but after 3rd or 4th it became hit and miss, and then from 10th the show became less episodic with the main plot kicking in and better overall (although 10th is probably the worst they did, especially when comparing it to the awesome Arrow episode that aired that week, the one with the guy getting hit by a lightning or something). Oh, and it has Bill Paxton now.Computron wrote:Still have not watched any of Agents of Shield yet. *Just like Arrow I suppose, but that's what you get with a CW show, the good (breakneck pace) and the bad (soapy plots) that comes with it. I also find it having poorer episodes too often breaking the batch of the better ones, except when first nine eps of second season were consistently owning in the fall.
