Iron Man 3 is good.

You should see it.
Unless you hate Eiffel 65, in which case you may want to stick your fingers in your ears while the Marvel logo rolls.

That. Was. AWESOME! Probably the first movie that actually felt like a comic book story arc. And WHAT a story arc it was! It had EVERYTHING! Fun, action, humor, characters, surprises, and arguably the best ending of any of the Marvel movies thus far. If this turns out to be the last we see of Iron Man for awhile, then I'm totally satisfied.
The movie is like two and a half hours long and it is just a joy to watch from for that entire time.
I saw the movie with Japanese subtitles. But more importantly, I saw the movie in Japan. And Japanese audiences are, for the most part, silent as the grave.
But there is one line, delivered so perfectly, that the three or four English speakers in the theater cracked right up...and then, in unison, tried (with little success) to stifle that laughter.
Third film in a trilogy. New director. This COULD have been meh-to-bad and nobody would have been the least bit surprised. But this might be the best in the series. Hell, I may have enjoyed it more than the Avengers.

Agree with everyone, this was super. Probably the best Iron Man film, and IMO certainly the best third film of a superhero movie saga (the third film normally is the straw that breaks the camel's back).
Then I was thinking of other third movies better than the second one, and only came up with Indy and Die Hard before I had to put bookshelves up.
One thing I wasn't sure about, how were the bad guys defeated? They seemed to be invincible T1000 types (except with flame instead of liquid mercury) except sometimes they just died after a well placed shot.
Least annoying kid in an action movie ever. The freefall scene was genius (makes the one in Superman Returns look ultra lame). Ben Kingsley almost stole the whole flick (I wonder if any Mandarin fans feel shafted?). And the end credits scene was chucklesome.

That much concentrated nerd rage is beyond deadly.
You know the interesting thing is that if nerd purists got their way, we'd have a bunch of movies that come out like Watchmen. 100% accurate and in dire need of an editor. Sometimes things can't be copied directly from source material without being silly.
To be honest, I've never heard of the Mandarin before this movie, and having him supposed to possess 10 magic rings is pretty lame to be honest. Then again I never really liked Green Lantern, so maybe I just have a thing against magic rings that aren't being ferried to Mordor.

I loved Watchmen. Was kind of pissed about the squid...until I actually watched the movie...and admitted it was a better ending.Brendocon wrote:ANGRY MISSING SQUID ALIEN IS ANGRY AND MISSING.Computron wrote:Watchmen. 100%

As a series of individual scenes, I loved Watchmen. As a unified whole, I never felt like it took off. I think it is because what makes Watchmen a brilliant comic, makes it a rough movie. The fact that there is no climatic battle where everything hangs in the balance. You know, standard Hollywood fare.Professor Smooth wrote:I loved Watchmen. Instead by the time the characters and the moviegoers figure out what is going on, it's already too late. It just kind of...ends.
I dunno, I can't put my finger on it. When I read the comic, it was great. When I watched it onscreen it kinda felt like it ran outta steam.
Yet I still kinda consider it a brilliant film.
I'm a terrible film critic.
The lack of squid is certainly not the most **** change to the film.
This sums it all up better than I could.

I enjoyed Watchmen when I saw it, though it did feel somewhat flat, as if something was awry beyond the changes. That review basically captures my feelings.
Wouldn't watch it again when I can read the book.

Problem with adaptations is if you stray too far from the source, you're basically writing something new and sticking the name on it (hello Constantine); whereas if you adhere too faithfully to the source, there's little-to-no actual point in making the film.
Sin City is a good example of getting the balance right.
But I can let my mum see Iron Man 3.

"Finally, and probably the only brilliant thing Snyder brought to the film, is the opening credits sequence. It really helps set up this universe and its history in under 5 minutes without being too expository. The use of Bob Dylan is brilliant. I have a hard time believing Snyder had anything to do with this. It almost belongs in a different film."Brendocon wrote: This sums it all up better than I could.

.
I don't agree with everything that reviewer said, but that part is brilliantly on target.

I thought the first Bay movie was lots of fun. It was far better than I could have hoped.
But 2 and 3 are too long and bloated and, dare I say, charmless. I don't hate them or anything though.
Watchmen: the movie ending made sense, I couldn't knock it. But the comic is SO wonderful, I'd be happier if they'd never adapted it.
Great Alan Moore interview here by the way: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KdHjJuNIq-Y
