Avengers (Spoilers)

Avengers (Spoilers)

Post by Best First » Fri Apr 27, 2012 8:15 am

10/10 - absolutely knocked my socks off.

Hulk definitely stole the show - Ruffalo's "I'm always angry" into Hulk into space eel punch was brilliant.

They managed to get some good Avenger on Avenger scraps without it seming too contrived - again Hulk's dance with Thor being my fave.

I didn't actually think Widow and Hawk were as surpless as i was expecting them to be but other people i went to the cinema with were less convinced.

Stark managed to be Stark without totally stealing the show.

Shame about Coulson, he was fun but it worked in the context of the story.

Comedy was by and large deftly done - "He's adopted".

Absolute highlight was Loki's ragdoll moment.

Will be seeing more than once.

And LOVING the fact it came out in the UK on my birthday.

It was 10/10 for me too. Some real LOL moments in there which i didn't expect.

I thought Hawkeye had a raw deal but I care little for him really. I fell for Black Widows interrogation techniques both times.

The only thing I wish they could have added is seeing some potential new Avengers working at street level. Would have been awesome to see someone like Luke Cage catch Cap's eye as he takes it upon himself to help a bunch of civilians in need.

Rest of the world thinks its SOOOO cool....:P

Is it true that they don't really seed any new characters, or even just kind of mention anyone (Hank, Janet, Carol Danvers, even Rhodey) as a one off?

And I will humbly request one spoiler: What's the after credits tease teasing towards?

Haven't bothered to watch Cap or Thor yet... will it matter, really?
For now, it seems like IDW wants my money.

I've just spent 20 minutes trying to explain who Thanos is without being boring or coming across as teh ubergeek.

I pretended to look him up on Wiki to "refresh my memory" and gave abridged version.

I think I got away with it.

In short: LOVED THE FILM YES I DID I DID I DID.

Full of awesome one-liners. Plus anything that puts Scarlett and Cobie in skintight rubber is ok by me.

Hulk stole the show, yes. And I guessed Thanos from the beginning.

Also: Hulk = brilliant, even down to the grey in his hair.

Loved the way every character's motivation came across beautifully. Even down to it all being Thor's fault.

Also: Annihilus was Alexis Denisof. Which means that he can rustle on down to Earth and just shotgun people in the sequel. WHOOO.

And Harry Dean Stanton! Crikey. Victor from Dollhouse was in there, and Cy Tolliver and Jenny Agutter on the security council. Awesomesauce cast.

Was that Annihilus? I thought he was just Head Chiturhi (sp?) bloke?

found the sound on some bits a little hard to follow - may have just been our cinema.

IMDB have him credited as The Other, but the page redirects to Annihilus... thought to start with it was a Chitauri, but given that they all croaked simultaneously I'd assume he was something else.

There were a few bits of dialogue I missed, but that was due to the idiots behind me rustling and having conversations, the foreign muppet next to me twatting about on Facebook and everybody else laughing raucously at the numerous hilarious bits. How dare they.

How does Fury even see all of this?
He turns.
Sounds tiring.

Are they all dead? I kind of assumed the grunts were on some kind of remote power source but not sure that means the rest are done for.

Anyway - we shall see.

Hope Joss directs the sequel.

And the one after that.

And then they should quit on a (hopefull) high.

Given the fact that Spidey has already been rebooted and WB is already talking about who's going to direct the NEXT Batman trilogy, I sincerely doubt it.

However, by the time the trilogy has played out, maybe they'll have Spidey and Wolvie rights back? That plus the Doctor Strange movie...New Avengers?

I have now seen it again. I deserve a medal for waiting this long before the repeat viewing.

He says "our Chitauri" when talking to unseen Thanos at the beginning, so I'd say he's definitely separate to them.

Sure was awesome. Want to plan a second viewing, for sure. The ending battle was great and everything, but Thor vs. Hulk was the biggest geek-out for me, esp. when Hulk tried to lift the Hammer.

Oh, and we fancy Americans got a second teaser at the end: everyone sits around and eats shwarma like Tony wanted.

My favourite inter-Avengers scrap was the hour-long wrestling match between Black Widow, Maria Hill and a family-size multi-pack of banana yoghurt.

:D Nice.

Just saw this. Great superhero flick, probably my fav behind Superman I and II (Kneel before Zod, Avengers!!)

Whedon knew that the key to this thing working would be humor. And they had it in spades and nicely executed.

My fav part? Definitely when Hulk says "I'm always angry" and turns around and knocks the **** out of that slug thing. Hasn't been a better comic book character moment since Batman Begins when Commissioner Gordon says "leaves his calling card" and it's the a joker and Batman says "I'll look into it".

Loved Hulk flinging Loki around like a rag doll. Hilarious. Laughed out loud at this part, and at the end where Hulk roars and startles a seemingly dead Tony Stark, who then calls for shwarma.

And this movie is how downtown mayhem should have looked in Transformers. Everything was clear, the camera didn't shake, and the kickass 3-D, despite the chaos, was clear and not headache-inducing. Visually, some beautiful scenes, like when the helicarrier takes off and all the Iron Man flying parts.

But the best looking scene was the one that had Iron Man flying and the camera sort of follows him as he lands and slides and proceeds to fight seamlessly blending from one fighting Avenger to another as they have their 'moment'. Damn, that had my hair raising. That's how you choreograph a freakin fight scene!

Don't think this movie could have been better executed, really. I mean, it did justice to the longtime diehard comic fans that shelled over thousands of lifetime dollars over decades to Marvel. They delivered. They didn't have to, the hype was enough. But they freakin delivered.

So now the question remains. Who wins the summer, The Dark Knight or the Avengers?

Lots of fun, but the Thanos cameo was basically a bit rubbish unless you're enough of a fan to know who the silly looking red man just standing there is and why you should be impressed by him. My full thoughts:

And like the shwarma scene, it would have been a lot better if it had Hulk instead of Banner.
