Tron: Legacy

If the Ivory Tower is the brain of the board, and the Transformers discussion is its heart, then General Discussions is the waste disposal pipe. Or kidney. Or something suitably pulpy and soft, like 4 week old bananas.

Tron: Legacy

Post by Yaya » Sun Dec 19, 2010 7:51 pm

Saw it.

As expected, fantastic visuals, incredible soundtrack, nostalgic vibe, and average story.

So yeah, loved it. Would have handled the ending a little different.

Better than Avatar, aesthetically, IMO.

This.

Except I don't even like the original Tron, let alone have high expectations for the new one ;)

I agree. I tried to watch Tron when it was on TV once and it bored me to the point where I couldn't watch it anymore. I can see how it could've been facinating 20+ years ago, but the concept and effects are incredibly dated. Take the "WOW" out of those and you're left with a bland movie.

That being said, is it fair to say Avatar is today's Tron(ignoring today's Tron 2, of course)?

I think Avatar is definitely Tron-esque. In 20 years we'll look back and go 'I remember it being much better?'

You'll all be old but I'll look the same, though I'm not sure which of my regenerations that will be...

Sorry to be mean to the Tron fans though, I'm sure if you like Tron the new film will be great :)

This movie is certainly better than the first, all around. I wasn't really a big fan of the first, but appreciated it for being conceptually ahead of it's time at that moment.

With Tron: Legacy, the visuals with the music alone were enough to get me there, and I'm glad I went.

And despite the simple story, I loved the message. That despite our continuous struggle to try and make things more perfect through technology, we can never achieve perfection, and need only realize that perfection is all around us, in the sunrise or in the raising of a child, as Flynn puts it.

Not to mention, Quorra was hot as heck.

Sorry Yoyo, but it seemed too good an opportunity to pass up. ;)

Yo...........yo?

I like it. When next I get banned, I shall return as Yoyo...hence the name.

Hey, I have no problem admitting I still have a boner about this flick.

I thought Yaya was his real name.

Next you'll be telling me he doesn't have a brother called Kolo.

Saw the original Tron for the first time on Monday. Words cannot express my underwhelmedness.

Apparently Disney themselves agreed with you, because they pulled all copies of the original Tron off the shelves so that people wouldn't see it so that viewers would not be deterred from seeing Legacy.

Phase 1 of my plan is learning his name. Phase 5 will involve a large pizza, a copy of Transformers: The Movie and Yaya eating out of my hand.

Phase 10... Well, that need not concern you ;) :D

Muhahahahahaha!

That's like... the opposite of the usual marketing ploy for film series, isn't it? :o

Ok, keep in mind im a techy geek who is into old video games and such... tron is an important film for me, it sticks out like pac-man does in video game history.

Saw the new Tron film the other night, meh.

The original Tron had a place in history due to its visuals, the new films visuals are pretty but they dont inspire.
The story was just, well dull. And it suffers from that modern day film problem of having to explain every last minor detail to the point where its so demystified it becomes stale.

2/5 For me, wouldnt watch it again.
