Thor! Trailer!

If the Ivory Tower is the brain of the board, and the Transformers discussion is its heart, then General Discussions is the waste disposal pipe. Or kidney. Or something suitably pulpy and soft, like 4 week old bananas.

HELLZ YEAH!

Asgard looks a bit too painted-polyurethane for me. Otherwise... HELLZ YEAH.

Or have a glass full of spare change near their beds. That they don't have.

Then go see the (cheaper) 2D version. Problem solved.

I realize there is a 2d version Smooth. I am sick of that being the main advertising strategy. It makes me worry that they are spending more money on making it 3d then they are in making a quality movie with a great story.

Well, we saw what 3-D did for Clash of the Titans. Made **** look, well, more like ****.

Unless a movie is animated or has captivating scenery and landscapes, the 3-D treatment doesn't enhance the movie experience, IMO.

Anyway, this looks pretty good, but I was hoping for more of a, what's that movie with the Vikings and Antonio Banderas, kind of feel. A more gritty rather than shiny kind of feel.

What "main advertising strategy?" It's the last 2 seconds of a two minute trailer. "New MARVEL movie! Look at all this awesomeness! Big dudes! Guy from Iron Man! Alien world! Big hammer! Robot thing! Hannibal Lecter is Odin! There's the chick from Star Wars and Black Swan! Oh, and it's in 3-D."

I get sick of seeing it too.

Mainly because it's expensive and the glasses don't sit properly on my face, because I have virtually no bridge to my nose (well, it's there... it's just... small. I have a very flat face). Drives me nuts.

... They need to make 3D contacts! That'd be awesome!

Looks decent, wouldnt go so far as to say awesome just yet. Never have been a big fan of Thor. However, I fully intend on seeing the movie because Marvel has done a decent job with movie studios in keeping continuity amongst the movies lately. I actually ENJOY seeing the movies in 3D. I just get frustrated when they feel the need to advertise it that way. Lately "3D" has become the "Cowbell" of movies. I feel like if they went to Michael Bay and said "we are remastering Casablanca. Any suggestions on how to spice it up?" and his answer would definitely be "Explosions.... in 3D".

3D has become the Bullet Time of the past few years. Once one movie did it and the concept and technique got out, EVERYONE feels the need to do it. When it is done well (and I am not saying that it WONT be done well in this case) it truly enhances the movie. When it is done wrong it is a godaweful eyesore.

My opinions are often flawed and biased, as tends to happen when someone is human, but they are mine. At the end of the day, I don't care if a movie is in 3D or not. I just would prefer if that weren't a "major selling point" for the movie.

Whereas I, on the other hand, have no qualms about admitting I'm a 3-D whore.

That's all true, but what was before Bullet Time? THX sound. What was before THX sound? Drive-Ins. What was before Drive Ins? Color movies. They're all just bells, whistles, and experiences designed to convince you that in the movie theater, there's an experience you just can't get on your TV. Today that hair is an even smaller split.

Look on the bright side: In 5 years, when everyone owns 3D TVs, we should finally FINALLY get Smell-O-Vision in theaters. :P Just please, please, don't make porn for it.

More importantly this movie is taking one more step towards the amazing possibility of an Avengers film and, hopefully, subsequent part 2's and 3's!

Be happy and rejoice all of you!!!

I think the reason you invited me to the NYE party is because you KNOW I will make a porn in smell-o-vision!
