Ok it is bad enough when you realize that the kids graduating high school this year were born the year you STARTED high school.
Its worse when you see the girl you had a crush on in high school is now a beautiful and award winning Biochemist and doing worldly travels and such while you are tied to a family and dump food in a trough for the morbidly obese every day.
It is even worse when her annoying cockblocking BABY SISTER is now a smoking hot professional cheerleader for the Pittsburgh Steelers.
and its just plain awkward when you realize that she shares a "like" with you with the Hustler Club.

Re: Old
I prefer to think of myself as "seasoned". The custom title was a joke.
I wouldn't mind being "tied" to a family, tbh. Well, a part of me wouldn't. Right now, I'm very free and living for myself for the first time in a long time; I'm enjoying it. At the same time, I crave stability. I feel like it's time to stop being irresponsible and settle the [composite word including 'f*ck'] down, y'know?
But then again, I want to travel before any of that family stuff happens... hmm.
It's all relative. Is anyone every really happy with their lot in life? People need to stop thinking that the grass is greener on the other side of the fence. People just make themselves miserable that way.
I listened to a Top 100 Pop Songs of 2000-2003 (somewhere in there) yesterday. Sooooo much fun! I can't wait till they start doing the "Top x of the 00's" albums. I love that crap.

Good excuse to travel.
You know, Sades, if I didn't have the kids, I think I'd go Transfan-hopping. You could hit London, Sweden, Hungary, Malaysia, Japan, Texas... maybe not the last one.

Or have a glass full of spare change near their beds. That they don't have.

Think there's even more than that, if you consider OLD OLD people who don't post anymore. Or that Senior's Covenant guy.
Anyway, trapped? You guys are the ones on an island. As long as you go directly to Austin without passing GO or collecting $200, you should avoid the big black hole of conservative millitaristic religiosity that could otherwise trap you in an existence filled with hatred, entitlement, and Double Down sandwiches from KFC.

If you have boats, why are you still there? As Shanti pointed out, and as I am now using in a brilliant reversal, we have Double Downs.

Recently had a conversation with the ex about life. She is feeling alienated from her husband because he is getting a PhD in physics and she doesn't understand a word of what he says.
Wrote a haiku about it
Sara, I truly
enjoy my wife more than you
and I feel guilty

I've been to Texas. It was warm there! In February!
If I go anywhere it'll probably be London. I've wanted to go to the UK before I knew any of you. That and Japan, but Japan is a bit stranger than I imagined as a child, it kinda scares me now. And maybe Germany.
Meetups? Likely, if people want. I always thought that very few people would be interested in saying hi, and was kinda planning on sneaking in, then sneaking out at some point within the next two years.
The US/Canada people should agree upon a central point and go there. Preferably not during tornado season.

That's a Nobel-winning idea. Seriously.

Las Vegas?
Las Vegas!
A friend told me how to get hookers in Vegas. Apparently I have to find a cabbie named Alberto or something.
Don't know about doing alternating years, I'll probably have to get a bank loan just to take the first trip as is. This is assuming the banks will let me (student with a part time job and two forever maxed-out credit cards, GO ME) take out a loan in the first place.

Holy [composite word including 'f*ck']. Why did I never order that when I was in London?
Those full English breakfasts are pretty spectacular--crispy bacon, sausage, ham, baked beans, poached eggs and, oh yeah, a small fried tomato.

Trying to forget it. Also seeking to forget how Emvee described it in detail while licking his lips, eyes like a hungry zombie.

Yup, that's food all right.
Bubble and squeak? *googles*
I'd do the beans, toast, tea, and maybe this bubble and squeak stuff. Black Pudding sounds odd enough for me to consider trying it.
Why must everything everywhere (/obviousexaggeration) be fried? Don't get me wrong, it's generally tasty. My main objection to fried food is that it gives me stomach cramps if I eat too much of it. Hence, grease=pain for me. Blegh.
The concept of travelling alone is somewhat scary, though. Who's done it?

Couple times.
Did up DC, NY, most of Texas, and a lot of Cali. If a road trip counts, i've driven damn near all over the midwest by myself.
Its not bad as long as you feel confident that you can get around by yourself. Don't carry a lot of money, keep a backup wallet for the sketchier places, and dont get raped and murdered. Kinda my guidelines for travel....

So eyes like a zombie then? Zombies are always hungry.
This is why I'm leaning more towards attending events. Like Botcon or such. Hopefully more chance of getting together with people who would have gone there anyway, less space in between me and a hotel room so I don't have to walk down any weird dark alleys or some **** and less chance of getting lost. Though apparently there's a "solo traveller" guide book out there somewhere.
Yeah, I generally try to avoid both of those in anything I do.IronHide wrote: dont get raped and murdered.
