Aye, that's reasonable enough an explanation. Darn your rationality.
Still Donovan's a solid player and it sucks to see him left out so suddenly. Rest of the team is really going to have to step up. For Klinsmann's sake we're going to have to not only get out of the 1st round but also the 2nd to quiet the naysayers.
Our team can be really schizophrenic. One moment we are world class (Winning CONCACAF in '13) and the next moment we fall apart and look like we are always "10 years off from playing at the European level!"
Still I love our team. Still more fun to watch than most anything else.

Re: Talk about your favourite football team.
We're in the lead with seven points! Ten games left of the season.
On Tuesday we're playing Red Bull Salzburg in the play off for the Champions League (if we lose we're still qualified for the Euro League). We beat FK Ventspils with 1 - 0 in the second qualifying round, and then Sparta Prague with 4 - 4 in the third. Sparta played at home the first leg and won 4 - 2. But we won 2 - 0 at home in an amazing game. The stadium was packed and Markus Rosenberg was awesome! Probably one of the best games I've even seen at our stadium. Lots of emotions!
Rosenberg scores the second goal, which ended up sending us to either Champions League or the Euro League
How's the start of the season treating the rest of Europe?

oops.
We scored against Leeds and then it turned out we didn't.
Bit of optimism about boro this season. That can't end well.

Re: Talk about your favourite football team.
We lost 1 - 2 against the team that sold its soul to Red Bull.
The game on Wednesday is gonna be absolutely bananas. The game is sold out, and I'm expecting one hell of a atmosphere.

We did it! For the first time in fourteen years there's gonna be a Swedish team in the Champions League!
We won 3 - 0 against Red Bull! An incredible result. Red Bull has like 8 times more money than us, and blah blah blah... but we ******* did it! Just got home from the game and gotta be at work in seven hours, but [composite word including 'f*ck'] it. I'm gonna read every article about this.

Re: Talk about your favourite football team.
I was quite happy that Maribor kicked out Celtic, but now seeing as Slovenia, Sweden and Bulgaria all ended their CL drought in one year and we're still waiting (19 ******* years by the time next season comes), it somehow doesn't feel as good.

Re: Talk about your favourite football team.
Eleven games played in the Swedish league and we are currently at number four. Not where we want to be considering we've won the league two seasons in a row, plus the whole Champions League adventure.
There are rumors about our central defenders leaving during the summer which sucks. Same goes for our keeper.
And Anders "Taco" Svensson is still going strong! Playing as central defender this season for his club Elfsborg and doing a good job
Other players who've played abroad are Kennedy Bakirciouglu. He helped his team, Hammarby, take the step from Superettan to the Swedish Elite League (Allsvenskan).
In my team, Malmö FF, Markus Rosenberg is doing a good job. We also signed Magnus Wolff Eikrem and Jo Inge Berget from Cardiff.
The Elm brothers (Victor, David and Rasmus) are playing together again in their hometown Kalmar.
There's probably a few players I forgot about, but you'll have to wait for my next exciting update

Re: Talk about your favourite football team.
The English football has kicked off right? Give me an update!
We're playing Glasgow Celtic next week in the Champions League Playoff. The first leg is at Glasgow, and then it's off to Malmö! We made it to the CL last year, and right now there's a really good atmosphere around the team. We recently won the Swedish "el Classico" and are within reach of the first place with eleven games left of the season. If we lose against Celtic we are still qualified for the Euro League, which is good since we have a lot of players and need to rotate a lot.
Also, we beat Red Bull Salzburg for the second year in a row! Absolutely fantastic.
Two of our new signings have played in England and/or Scotland. Jo Inge Berget (Cardiff and Celtic), and Magnus Wolff Eikrem (Cardiff. Also belonged to Manchester United when he was 19 - 21).
Dixon Etuhu plays for AIK, a club based in Stockholm.
Diego Lugano played six months for Häcken (January - June I think), a club from Gothenburg.
Rosenberg is the captain of Malmö FF. Kari Arnasson (played a couple of seasons for Rotherham) is vice captain.
Kennedy Bakircioglü plays for Hammarby (also a club based in Stockholm).
Anders Svensson is still going strong. Playing central defender now at age 39 at Elfsborg.
EDIT: Just realized I wrote the exact same thing two months ago...

And now Saints can sign Virgil van Dijk without so much of a fight. EVERYBODY WINS. Except Celtic. But nobody cares about them...
