Not bad. Not as good as I had hoped, but still seems to be a quality show in the making.

I liked it! The intro was rad, I knew it was gonna be good when he put one between the eyes without blinking. However, I thought the 'been in a coma in a hospital for months and now theres zombies everywhere' was almost a complete ripoff of 28 Days Later, minus the british accents. Has potential to be good, was sad the horse got ate, really gave it a Red Dead feel that I think could have worked for the rest of the season. Either way, it will have my attention on Sunday.

"Hey dumbass in the tank. You comfy?"
I was sad about the horse as well. I felt like a prick when he was under the tank and said out loud "Oh let me guess, the hatch will be open" and it was.
Of course it would have been a much shorter series had he just eaten a bullet.
I have seen the graphic novels at walmart and considered picking them up.. but honestly I want to enjoy the show without the "WHAT ABOUT X PERSON?" or "Thats not how it went down"
That being said... I hope his "buddy" gets his face eaten off

The series is good, but you're not going to see a lot of deviation from classic Romero-zombie ville. The series is supposed to be a Romero movie that never ends.

Or do one big poo in the morning and another one in the afternoon. I bet they weren't even excited by and then subsequently disappointed by Star Wars Prequels. Or have a glass full of spare change near their beds. That they don't have.

In terms of the zombies, they're classic Romero zombies, but the appeal of TWD, at least in the comics, is that it's really not about the zombies, it's about how the zombies change how we act towards each other.
And I believe the writing of TWD and the production of 28 days later were happening concurrently, so it's just a coincidence.
Me, I thought it was awesome. I made my wife watch even though she doesn't really like zombies, and now she wants to know just where Laurie gets off already moving on.

I don't know exactly why - I'd have to go back and look at the first TPB - but in the show, it seemed like they revealed Laurie and Shane much quicker. I remember thinking the same thing reading - times were crazy, Rick was written off as dead, and Laurie felt alone - but in the show, it was a bit weirder. I mean, how long can one be in a hospital with the electricity off?saysadie wrote:I haven't see it but I've read the tpb... And to be fair, she's got a family, they're surrounded by the deadly reanimated corpses of the dead and (iirc) he's handy with a gun. It's a dangerous time, given those circumstances...

SPOILERS... not that other people did any spoiler warnings, but oh well. And if you've read the TPBs, you probably don't really need it...
I just saw it on AMC's website.
It feels very... different from most TV series I've seen. It's got a movie feel to it. The horse wasn't gruesome, IMO. Poor Morgan...
I like it! But there's something I never thought of before- how the hell did Rick survive for a month in a powered-down hospital without any source of nourishment?
The kiss didn't seem weird to me... it seemed lacking in any real emotion. I may just be projecting here, but I basically look at it the same way I did when I read the comics- things are all ****** up, you take comfort where you can. If you're decidedly weak (I hated Rick's wife in the beginning because she seemed so fricking useless. Need to re-read, because it's been a few months) and someone who is big, strong, gun-trained and familiar has the hots for you, you'd be a fool to turn that sort of guaranteed protection down.
All in all- more! Gimme!

I guess that was what I was tring to say. Watching the show, it didn't seem like a month in the hospital because, as you say, it just doesn't seem feasable. More like a few days at the least, a couple weeks at the most. If he was in the hospital for that long, then it seems like that's too quick. I'm not saying she shouldn't hang out with Shane, I'm just saying, in terms of giving up on your husband/moving on emotionally and in terms of trying to make moves on your partner's wife, I don't think two weeks would suffice. Now a month, that makes a lot more sense.saysadie wrote:I like it! MORE SPOILERS
Zombies!...
Yeah, it was established as a month in-between normalcy and Zombieland when Morgan (I think that's his name, the black dude) was telling Rick about the zombies. I think **** hit the fan sometime in the week after Rick entered the coma as no one bothered to change/toss the flowers.
Does anyone remember seeing Rick hooked up to an IV drip? That might explain why he survived as long as he did. Either way, it bugs me a bit but I'm willing to overlook it for this TV show.
Would it have seemed too quick if it had been two weeks? I think Shane's interest in Rick's wife was hinted at subtly here when they were talking in the car, IIRC it seemed more obvious in the comics. But I thought it came across.
The way I see it, if your life is in danger every day, you assume your best friend is dead but his wife (whom you're interested in) is still alive, you're going to convince yourself to go for it, even if you feel a little guilty doing so. He might have even convinced himself he was doing it for Rick.

I don't know. But I don't have TV. Just in case you're lonely, though, Hi.

ooookay Spoiler alert kinda
note to self: record show BEFORE watching with KaeLynn.
Shes allowed to watch zombies. She is NOT allowed to watch Shane smash in Laurie's back door like an overzealous fireman.
I spent the first few minutes covering her eyes lol.

He didn't so much "smash" as "politely knock before entering enthusiastically".

That's America for ya. Mostly clothed dry humping in a secluded forest? Cover the children's eyes! Hacking up a zombie guy, spreading his guts over your clothes, and then wearing his hand as a necklace? How is that NOT family entertainment? :POptimus Prime Rib wrote:ooookay Spoiler alert kinda

hey hey now. In the event of zombie apocalypse, I want KaeLynn to be proactive and hacking up zombies. I do not want her playing "convenient receptacle" in order to survive.Shanti418 wrote:That's America for ya. Mostly clothed dry humping in a secluded forest? Cover the children's eyes! "Maude was a sexy Zombie nurse, shuffling her way through undeath. Sexily. Her most interesting feature was her unhinged jaw (it was sexy, too) and her missing tit... no one quite knew how it had gone missing... of course, in a Zombie apocalypse, anything is possible. (It also was sexy)."
See, you gotta throw enough "Sexy"s in there, or else the point doesn't get across.

Spoilers for Ep 3...
.
.
.
So, is Merle dead or not? There was really only one way off the roof, and it was still locked. So, did he get through and then just die from blood loss? In the first few seconds of the next episode, is the camera just going to pan over to the rest of Merle's body?
