Well, it was all that wanker Sprunkner who did it...Best First wrote:Ha - i was going to post that as a high but thought you might not like it.

Or do one big poo in the morning and another one in the afternoon. I bet they weren't even excited by and then subsequently disappointed by Star Wars Prequels. Or have a glass full of spare change near their beds. That they don't have.

Highs:
Some really great discussions about the comic back in the day
That knock out whose the strongest TF competition (remember that? The Metroplex v Galvatron thread got pretty heated)
Emailing back and forth with some of my childhood heroes when sorting interviews
Having people to talk to when things got bad (tbh I didn't do this much - but always felt I could - but I remember when my dad died some of the kind messages on here literally seemed to warm my heart)
Lows:
Not having time to work on this site. Bit depressed about that really.
Meeting some great people from this board but never having got totally trolleyed with them (WHEN WILL THIS HAPPEN?)

Transforce. Can't remember what year, but I remember Brend, BF, Snarlos, Crafty, Anglo, The Moonies, MV, Jetfire, Karl, Dylan & Eline and probably more all attending and then going to Wetherspoons after to play with our new toys . I really miss those times.
General words of advice from people on here when I have been down in the dumps, breaking up with exes and coming out as a massive homo.
Angloconvoy. Phwoar.
It's a guilty pleasure of mine when we get a thread that kicks off, like some of those listed above. I just wish I was clever enough to participate!
BFS rendition of Pat Lee style Optimus Prime cracks me up everytime I see it.
Ultimately it was discovering Transfans which made me realise that it was ok to still be obsessed with Transformers toys and comics. As part of a bigger picture, it helped me to realise that it was ok to just be me.

I remember that Transforce
Always seems to be a sunny summer day when I think back.
Grand times. Grand times.
Surely we could organise similar again, for old time's sake? I've never met Impy but I bet he's lovely (and MASSIVE, like the proverbial stonework outdoor privy)
Never met Rebis either, but I've often thought I'd like to

That was awesome. Is there anybody from the old Marvel (US or UK) run who we didn't interview? Come to think of it, we must have had pretty much everyone from DW drop by for interviews, too.spiderfrommars wrote: Emailing back and forth with some of my childhood heroes when sorting interviews
Oh, remember when Simon Furman joined the board?

Ah, i remember i signed up wanting to find out about Beast Wars on DVD because this placed seemed to have a lot of fellow Brits on it.
I didn't really realise at the time that they were mostly mentalist fellow Brits, but it kind of all worked out in the end!
Lots of fond memories (which is quite impressive for me seeing as I have a memory like a bloody sieve) some of which are;
1. Having to draw several diagrams (now lost the wilds of time probably) to explain how (in my mind at least) the whole timetravel thing in Marvel G1 actually worked, and people agreeing with me.
2. The whole trying to get up to a certain number of posts to get the top post-rank, ah, those were the days (i'm still impressed that i'm the 14th highest poster thesedays, despite being a bit more infrequent in recent times) i'm guessing the young'uns have better things to do with their time, or did we just scare them all away?
3. Meeting up with some of you guys for beverages and not remembering most people's real names, I still can't remember who's who properly... (see my memory comment earlier).
4. Didn't I end up with a catchphrase about 'just getting my coat' somehow? Not sure how that started exactly, but catchphrases are cool.
5. Molestanger!
6. As mentioned in someone else's comment, the 'Pat Lee's best artwork thread'.
7. The revelation that the whole board was infact just alt-aliases of Brend.
Infact, that whole fad of having alt-aliases was a bit wierd...
Sadly we do seem to have lost some people over the last ten years, understandably I suppose... Has anyone heard from Omega recently? Be interested to see what his take on the boards was these days! But at least we got Karl back - hooray for Karl!
Whatever happened to DrunkenMonkeyBot by the way?

Comic and movie reviews and discussions with fellow posters who are far more intellectual and critical than the average TF or sci-fi/fantasy fan. The bar must be raised, and here on Transfans, it is.
Snarlz. I don't understand a word that dude says, but he's cool as ****. Who would have thought swearing could rival the greatest poetry.
Creating a "Clone Wars" thread that consisted of a multi-page conversation...with myself. Huh. I wonder what I'm doing there now. Better go check.
Sprunkabeemus. He is the human glue that holds a board consisting of bickering, snarling Muslims, Christians, atheists, Mormons, agnostics, etc. together. Anybody who thinks about the feelings of others before they type gets an "A" in my book.
The time I was going through that really rough patch, and you guys stepped up and..... wait. [composite word including 'f*ck'], you didn't do a damn thing.
Political and religious discussions amongst people who play with Transformers in the secrecy of their home.
Lows
The occasional low blows, hits below the belt, and lack of self restraint.

"But the Costa story featuring Starscream? Fantastic! This guy is "The One", I just know it, just from these few pages. "--Yaya, who is never wrong.

Seriously... that is the nicest compliment I have probably ever received. Thank you. Can we get this thread into Lying In The Gutters?

I think it was a girder...the moose's head went "Eh!" in a Canadian accent after everything he said, and I think the other leg was a mop and bucket on wheels...Karl wrote:I recall the substandard mode had a leg formed of a piece of drainpipe terminating in a stuffed moose's head?

Still think we should have tried to track down Ian Rimmer too - he might've had some interesting insights into the early days of the UK comic.spiderfrommars wrote:We never asked Bryan Hitch. That's the royal 'we' of course
And judging by the past tense used in these reminisces i'm assuming the Transfans interviewing days are behind 'us'?
Which leg was Computron? And who were the other three limbs?Metal Vendetta wrote:I think it was a girder...the moose's head went "Eh!" in a Canadian accent after everything he said, and I think the other leg was a mop and bucket on wheels...Karl wrote:I recall the substandard mode had a leg formed of a piece of drainpipe terminating in a stuffed moose's head?
I can think of at least one who didn't.Professor Smooth wrote:Come to think of it, we must have had pretty much everyone from DW drop by for interviews, too
The last ones seem to be 3 years old, at least.Legion wrote:And judging by the past tense used in these reminisces i'm assuming the Transfans interviewing days are behind 'us'?
Highs and Lows: Aside from ones already mentioned, all I can think of off the top of my head are:
Highs:
The Dilfirst strips.
The 8-bit strips by LROP & Tired Tracks.
Lows:
The randoms who did self-insertion wish-fulfilments into said strips.
Yeah, obviously, meeting various TransFans past and present has been a high. Karly, I'm sure that we will meet some day.

I had this really weird dream a while ago that I flew to England to meet up with the transfans crowd and our designated spot was a cow field out in the middle of nowhere. I realized that I had left Chrissy and the kids at Heathrow, but I didn't want to leave, even though all we were doing was standing around kicking cowpats.
