Seriously, I have terrible insomnia. I'm usually in bed around 9 and up around 5 or 6. Lately it's been two o'clock running steady.
I tried to find a sleep-aid around the house. Turns out we had leftover Vicodin (sp?) from a toothache I had last year. I took it. Now I feel like I have a massive sunburn. What's up with that?
What's up with it all?
Who needs sleep?

Or do one big poo in the morning and another one in the afternoon. I bet they weren't even excited by and then subsequently disappointed by Star Wars Prequels. Or have a glass full of spare change near their beds. That they don't have.
I suffer from the same thing. I don't take sleep aids because, though you might sleep better, you'll feel like crap the rest of the day.
Or worse.
One time I tried prescription Ambien, which is a common sleep aid, before a flight (I have a fear of flying despite thousands of flights). The last I remember was about thirty minutes into the flight. The rest is a blur. Which might sound nice. But here's the scary thing. I landed at the airport, went to baggage claim, picked up my bag, was greeted by my sister in her car, went to her house, changed into my sleepwear, and didn't remember any of it. I vaguely remember walking up into this guys face and just staring at him in the airport. That's about it.
They say Benadryl works well, but again, you'll feel groggy later. Not good.
I avoid caffienated foods (chocolates) or beverages at night. I sleep with one of those nose clip expander things to help me breathe better and a mouthguard to prevent grinding by teeth which my dentist revealed to me I do. That seems to help some.
But here's the biggest culprit. Stress. I can't sleep when stressed, and even if I sleep, it's not a restful sleep. The night before surgery is probably my worst nights sleep.
I have found I need to learn a better way to disconnect from the events of my life and when my head hits my pillow, but that's waaaay easier said than done.

I sleep like a log. For like 9-12 hours if I can pull it off.
Umm, try listening to music when you're ready for bed? It's what I do when I can't sleep.
My mother is very fond of reminding me of the power of my mind. She used to tell me that my mind was much stronger than I thought and that the easiest way to fall asleep when you can't is to try not to think about the fact that you think you can't fall asleep. It actually does work, for me anyway.

I can easily sleep for 11 hours straight and still do on weekends when I get the chance. But I think I do that because the quality of sleep is so poor, that I have to make up for the body recovering by quantity.saysadie wrote:I sleep like a log. For like 9-12 hours if I can pull it off.
