... and the other is 41.
Despite *knowing* which is which, my brain still insists it's the other way round.

To be fair, it looks like Megan Fox is wearing a ton (like a "Holy crap her face is a different colour than the rest of her" ton) of makeup while Cate is wearing the bare minimum, if any. Too much makeup will make anyone look like ****. Depending on the person, too little also has the same effect.
That... is one pale lady.
That... is one pale lady.
I feel sorry for Megan Fox, actually.
Her acting talents are so poor, even she has admitted it in the past. So she rides on looks, which IMO, are the kind of mannequinesque looks that are nice to behold in the beginning, but lose their luster with time. It doens't help that her personality is so one-dimensional.
Or that she's overcompensating by caking herself in five or six pounds of makeup in all her photo shoots.
Undoubtedly, she will end up the butt of all jokes in the media.

Yeah, that's a pretty far of the mark assessment. I don't evaluate the worth of a person on how much money they make. That would be quite shallow. Plus, as an ophthalmic surgeon, I'm not doing so bad myself in the money department, that I should envy another's "wealth".saysadie wrote:I gotta say... that comes across as a touch bitter. It's almost "bitter cause they're only rich because they're pretty while I'm soooo smart but only make [insert amount here]" bitter. But I allow that I may be misenterpreting due to the ****** mood I'm in.
No, I think initially I found her over-the-top seductress role quite annoying, but that has changed into, well, pity really. She does not seem happy to me. Maybe I'm wrong, but I sense a great deal of pressure on her to perform beyond her capabilities. The comparisons to Jolie can't do much to ease her concious, can it?
I pity all model-esque women to some degree, in a sense. Too much emphasis is placed on the looks of a person, and less on one's character. It makes "ugly" people feel insecure and inferior, and it gives "beautiful" people a false sense of superiority that can only whittle away with the passage of time. If a women (or a man) defines herself on how she looks, then with time, which is kind to no one, there is a risk for major depression later in life. Cosmetic surgeries are often that last ditch effort to preserve one's looks in an effort to turn back the clock. I deal with these patient types all the time. It's quite sad, really. Because it's often hard for some to come to terms with the fact that the clock stops for no one. You end up wishing the person clung to something else, something more enduring, in how they define themselves.

"Quite a bit" means different things to different people. I would say I've enough to live comfortably and have not had to turn to others for it, but not so much that I become a pompous ass who thinks himself superior to others because of it.
Money is good for staying comfortable and for giving it to people who need it. But to be defined by it or to expect happiness to be in direct proportion to one's bank account is a fool's dream.

Haha.
That's a pretty big judgement to make about someone you don't even know, btw. I don't even presume to pity the people I know personally in ****** circumstance, because (in most cases) they got themselves into whatever mess they're in. If they need help, sure. Pity? No.
You're covering a ton of people with a blanket statement, that's kind of unfair. But I do the same thing sometimes, usually when I'm feeling insecure about something.
See, I'm all for a little nip and tuck when one is older, if it will make one feel better. Long as it isn't too dangerous or extensive, go for it. It's your body. I plan on going for a lift when things start to head south, myself. The difference here is that I know it isn't going to change ****, stuff will still head south or turn grey do whatever the hell it wants to as I age. But y'know what? It'll make me feel better for awhile, and it'll give me a story to tell.
I try not to waste pity on anyone. There's rarely need for it. If she's living the life she wants, all the more power to her. If there's pressure, well, she got herself into it. Like all, it's a multifaceted situation- depending on how you look at it, there's probably just as many pros as there are cons.

That's true, I could be way off the mark. And yet, something about her situation makes me feel sorry for her. Again, I could be wrong, but based on some of her interviews, she strikes me as someone putting on a front. Almost like she's intimidated by the people around her.
I suppose that's true. Best to spare one's pity for those deserving of it.I don't even presume to pity the people I know personally in ****** circumstance, because (in most cases) they got themselves into whatever mess they're in. If they need help, sure. Pity? No.
Certain generalities arise with the territory one's in, sometimes as a natural response to certain pressures. Many beautiful people have security issues because they define themselves by how they look. Subconciously, they determine their worth on what others think of their appearance. Of course, not all beautiful people. But many. I think I do have pity for these people because in many ways, it's not their fault. Parents push them into beauty contests and pageants at a young age. They are constantly being told in the formative teenage years about how beautiful they are. It's hard to combat that, really. How do you keep a level head about it at such a young age? Without proper guidance, it's got to be tough. You're covering a ton of people with a blanket statement, that's kind of unfair. But I do the same thing sometimes, usually when I'm feeling insecure about something.

As a surgeon myself, whenever the patient is going to undergo an elective procedure, the question on whether to proceed or not is always "do the risk outweigh the benefits?" The same is true for cosmetic surgery. If you have a procedure and get a bad infection that can have the opposite effect of horrible disfigurement, would you wonder at that point should I have had that procedure, or will you accept it as just that chance you had to take. It's a personal question that only that individual can answer, and hindsight is always 20/20. But in my experience, when an elective procedure goes south, invariably the response is "Why the [composite word including 'f*ck'] did I do that?".

You can accomplish a lot of things through the back door if you're quiet.
WHAT.
