If the Ivory Tower is the brain of the board, and the Transformers discussion is its heart, then General Discussions is the waste disposal pipe. Or kidney. Or something suitably pulpy and soft, like 4 week old bananas.

Terminator 2. Just barely.
"But the Costa story featuring Starscream? Fantastic! This guy is "The One", I just know it, just from these few pages. "--Yaya, who is never wrong.

Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets.
Not saying it is good. Just better.
Surely there are a bunch that fit that kind of model?
Oh! Proper one - Spider-man 2

I prefer the first Lord of the Rings but Two Towers gives it a run for its money.
In a trilogy, is the final one always underwhelming? Return of the Jedi/King, Spider-Man 3, X-Men 3...

Or have a glass full of spare change near their beds. That they don't have.

I think Back to the Future's the only one I can think of where the third is better than the second.

Pirates 2 was neat once the action got going.
Lethal Weapon 2, I think that's the one where Mel dragged a building down with a truck.

number 3 is ****, in a film series about time travelling, there isn't any!

And there I was thinking the time travel was a plot device to enable the character stuff that the film's about.
And there's at least two incidents of time travel in it.
It's better than the second one. There being more time travel in part 2 doesn't make it a better film.

My gut reaction is to disagree on that point, but I don't remember either film well enough right now... I can say that three was fantastic, but I might be influenced by the presence of Kraken.

No.

The Kraken was in the second one. Well, it was in the third one, too, but it had been deadified.

How about a case where the third film is better than the first?
The only film that comes to mind is Revenge of the Sith.

It's still **** though.
Superman II.
Oh - second film better than the first: From Russia With Love.
Third film better than the second: Goldfinger.
Shame it all sort of tails off after that, though.

I have debated myself for years about which film was better, Superman I or Superman II.
In the end, I think I enjoyed the second film more, but the first film was the best superhero movie to date and the standard by which all other superhero movies are judged.

Hellboy 2 The Golden Army.
I agree with X2, Spidey 2, Godfather 2, Empire, Kahn.
The Terminator, Alien and Back to the Future are better than their sequels I feel.

sadie got there first. Again!
Not that it was much of a sequel, more of a remake, really.
Also, it was the 3rd film, not the second, but most people aren't aware of Within the Woods...

Only because they were fools and released it with
The Dark Knight. I mean, what kind of strategy was that? I don't think it even made back it's production costs.

Who said there won't be third Hellboy? Del Toro wants to do it, Perlman wants to do it, the only problem is that Del Toro has to finish other projects (Hobbit? Is that one still on?) before Perlman is too old.
