The second film is better than the first

If the Ivory Tower is the brain of the board, and the Transformers discussion is its heart, then General Discussions is the waste disposal pipe. Or kidney. Or something suitably pulpy and soft, like 4 week old bananas.

Better than the First:

Toy Story 2
Aliens (although this is a bit of a fudge, since Alien was a horror and Aliens was an action)
Dawn of the Dead

Good Third Movies:
IJ and the Last Crusade
Bourne Ultimatum

Hmm. Yep. There will be a third.

Love Toy Story 2, but it tied with the first.

That's right, Amias, I called you out. Put up yer dukes.

Or have a glass full of spare change near their beds. That they don't have.

Two Hobbit movies to do first... So if they do get round to to doing it it's a long long way off.

Surely he could squeeze it in between shootings for the Hobbit movies. I mean with LOTR they'd shoot material for all three movies sometimes, it's really more about when they actually release the movies isn't it?

Yup. I'd anticipate the two halves of The Hobbit being shot at the same time, just released separately.

A bit like they're doing at the moment with Harry Potter & Oh Christ We Cut All The Important Stuff From The Previous Adaptations And Now The Last Film Won't Make Sense.

That's just craziness. Toy Story was a basic "John Henry" story, with the old toy and the new toy. Toy Story 2 was a mutli layered look at identity, both with Woody's discovery of his long lost popularity as well as the introduction of a 2nd Buzz. And let's not forget the love interest and horse for Woody in 2 as well. Toy Story 2 far outshined the original in terms of diversity of scenes, and the entire toy store bit with Buzz's Darth-like nemesis was gold, Spencer, gold!

To me, I remember Toy Story as a sad tome about obsolescence. Woody's lame, everyone loves Buzz, and Woody has to learn humility. Toy Story 2 is a rip-roarin' buddy flick where Woody finds his inner confidence and street cred through finding his past, and at the end, we know the Buzz & Woody will be friends forever, through Andy and Beyond! (barring the third movie)

I defy you!

Okay, it's been a while since I watched either one... and I did like the way Toy Story 2 poked fun at the stereotype of the toy collector. But I loved the initial breakdown Buzz had when he discovered he was just a toy--"I am MRS. NESBIT!" and I really loved the little aliens who worshipped The Claw. I don't think anything in the second film made me laugh quite as hard.

Yeah, it's hard to decide between Toy Story 1 and 2. They were both great.

I got the chance to see them in 3-D back to back in theatres when they were released as a two-movie special last year. Have to agree that Toy Story 1 edges out 2. Just barely though.
