I was dragged to see this movie with my nephews against my will, as I had no desire to see this movie.
But after having seen it, I regret nothing. I thought it was hilarious.
I saw the first one on cable, and wondered what the big deal was. So I really didn't won't to go for it the second time around, but it was funny. I laughed out loud many times, more that I have in a movie in a long time.
Hank Azaria was great.
Have to say, when I think about it, I might have overall enjoyed it more than Star Trek.
So if I had to rank my favorite movies thus far of 2009, it would go like this:
1. Up in 3-D
2. Coraline in 3-D
3. Night at the Museum
4. Star Trek
5. Terminator:Salvation
Night at the Museum: Battle at the Smithsonian

Hey, the first one was a great movie. Great idea and a fairly decent plot, but what sells the movie is the whole corny-ness of it. If I'd be 15 years old now, it'd be somewhat of a "Back to the Future" experience for me (Silvestri's music, IMHO, moved up the grade of this movie a lot for me).
I rarely go to cinemas but I did go to see the second one - must say, it was a fun watch but not as good as the first. Many wasted opportunities. But I laughed myself silly over Kamun-Rah, he's excellent in playing a villain who doesn't even take his own plot, or himself, seriously.
