Any Volkswagen experts out there?

If the Ivory Tower is the brain of the board, and the Transformers discussion is its heart, then General Discussions is the waste disposal pipe. Or kidney. Or something suitably pulpy and soft, like 4 week old bananas.

Hmm. Not familiar with the symbol beneath it (my own VW is a M reg polo, so probably a several-times-removed ancestor to yours), but it does look like it might represent the starter motor.

What is happening when the light shows, and is the light on continuously or intermittently?

[EDIT]

Have done a little searching, and found this article: http://www.avforums.com/forums/motoring ... light.html

The symbol referred to in that looks like yours, but without the lightning bolt, so it could be the engine management (which mine wouldn't have), or it might be something more electrically related.

Aside from that, dunno really. Haven't got much experience with computerised cars. Still, at least mine can't be commandeered by Terminatrices. ;)

My car is from 1989! A red Volkswagen Golf.

It's all sort of random. It usually comes on after 3 - 13 minutes. It can then flick on and off at its own will. It's usually on between five and... I don't know, two minutes maybe.

Thanks for the help! :)

Duude!

There I was, thinking you'd have some 21st Century JohnnyCab of a Passat, or something, and all the time, you're driving one half a decade older than mine!

Not going to be engine management, then.

Have now found this - http://www.ask-knappy.com/knappy/Car%20Stuff/67.pdf - which appears to apply to all VWs from '83-'92.

From those diagrams, it looks like it's the emission control system. So, not my first guess at lighting-bolt-related at all.

Good thing I'm not a mechanic. "Hmm, everything looks ok. Ah, there's your problem, not enough lightning bolts. Try raping and pillaging in the name of Thor for a few days and it'll fix itself, sir."

Then again...

Hah! Fantastic!

Thank you very much :)

But one question remains: when will we all get our very own JohnnyCab?

I dunno. Doesn't the very nature of a JohnnyCab kind of imply that they're not for individual ownership?

Oh, and chocolate donuts - very nice.

And once again, we are not astounded by Predabot's lack of grip on reality.

I've had several VW Polos, but they either never had that light or it never came on. :/
I would have waited a ******* eternity for this!!!!

How does being a VW Golf make it Cliffjumper, when Cliffjumper was a deformed Porsche 924 Turbo?

Or how would a yellow VW Golf get to be Bumblebee, when Bumblebee was a VW Type 1.
