Obama

If the Ivory Tower is the brain of the board, and the Transformers discussion is its heart, then General Discussions is the waste disposal pipe. Or kidney. Or something suitably pulpy and soft, like 4 week old bananas.

I can't comment on Delta City.
But I will tell you this:

Security Concepts projects the end of
crime in Old Detroit within 40 days.

There's a new guy in town.
His name's Robocop.

Thought his speech would be better than it was.

Sounded a lot like the same political rhetoric of the last 4 years....

Well he had a lot of ground to cover and a lot of different groups to appease. It wasn't bad, just not up to the bar he's set previously.

Obama retook the oath of office in private. Without a bible. The "Obama is the antichrist" people are going to have a field day with this.

You know who had a field day with Obama becoming president? THE ENTIRE WORLD! I still have people congratulating me and I live in JAPAN!

It's Fox News, so I never quite trust it... but the Gitmo stuff is great, and the abortion move great if it wasn't so ridiculous that Bush gave the gag order in the first place.

Speeches don't mean squat to me.

Action and intention are what matters.

We will see how Obama turns out. But as Smooth said, the world rejoices because they see hope.

Even just having a feeling of hope is a step up from the Bush administration.

Maybe Obama will deliver, maybe he won't.

But we now have hope.

What I find most irritating is how vocal anti-Obamist already are. The guy's in office one day, and conservative talk show radio people are bashing him for closing down Gitmo and how he wasn't sworn in correctly? What the [composite word including 'f*ck']? If there was ever any doubt that the polarization of this country is still present, well, there's your answer.

It amuses me that it apparently took five people to write that article...

I'd probably get shot if I actually said this out loud, but I'm getting bloody sick of seeing Obama on TV in the break room every morning. Oh, and I'm getting sick of people saying "Obama's gonna change the world!". Sorry. He actually sounds like he could be top-notch and on the level, but so did Bush when he first took office. I think I'll reserve judgement for later when he has actually done a few presidential-type things.

Agreed.

I still stand by my claim of Obama being a 1 term president.

Already he's put a halt to the harsh interrogation techniques at Gitmo, ordered the whole facility closed within a year, and reversed the ban on funding international organizations that perform or provide information on family planning.

Word is that he'll start shifting the focus from Iraq back to Afghanistan in the very near future.

He's been on the job for less than a week and already he's making a positive impact.

no. bush was a dick from day one. the only pol who couldn't see it were stupid. the world knew it, half of America who voted knew it and finally u have a president who can actually speak properly. think about that, most children can speak better than bush...

Obama hasn't done anything for u to moan about yet, so untill then perhaps give a clearly intelligent man a moment to settle in a bit.

Bush did sign in the abortion global gag order on day one, a process Obama is reversing (as Clinton reversed it from Reagan/Bush) so at the very least right now he's off to a solidly clintonesque start. let's hope he doesn't insert any cigars anywhere.

I am cautiously optimistic. Can't really tell much about the man from just a week, but he's already done some positive things.

Which is what irks me about people who bash him in the media. Give the man a chance, for crying out loud!

Not complaining about anything Obama has done or will do (yet). I think he does have the ability to introduce change and Im all for that after the last 8 years. However, do I think he'll get re-elected? No.

A good sign: http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20090127/ap_ ... igroup_jet

That's what I'm talkin about.

Obama has, in two weeks, made more headway into solving the problems of the nation than Bush did his entire presidency.
