Favourite Films of 2008
The Dark Knight, Wall-E and Rambo, sort of.
Favourite Albums of 2008
Scarlett Johansson - Anywhere I Lay My Head.
Sigur Rós - Með suð í eyrum við spilum endalaust (I have no idea what it means).
Favourite TV of 2008
Hm? Tv-shows that premiered in 2008?

Personal Highlights of the year
When the company I worked at filed for bankruptcy (happened in the beginning of april) and I was given four months worth of salary. Heeyo!! Paid vacation, woop woop. I had no work and no responsibilities during april, may, june, july and august (I started school in september).
I spent four days on Iceland, and then went on a ten day trip to Denmark, Germany, Austria and the Czech Republic.
I've also met some super awesome people at school. It's been years since I last met new people, so... yeah
Booya!

Re: Review of the Year 2008
Favourite Films of 2008
Jeez... I never watch anything anymore. Dark Knight, I guess. Definitely. Although the film highlight of my year was laying on the couch watching the extended versions of Lord of the Rings straight through after my comps test.
"Go home, Sam, and take your stupid toys with you!"
Favourite Albums of 2008
Still haven't tried the new Cold War Kids, so I think the only one I've heard that came out this year was the Raconteurs. Hung together a lot better than the first one. Need to invest in Cold War Kids, but I've totally pushed my credit card too far.
Favourite TV of 2008
Discovered Pushing Daisies just in time for it to get cancelled. 30 Rock, of course, and the Office.
Favourite Comics and/or Books of 2008
The end of Astonishing. (That was this year, right?) The best X-Men story ever, ever, and it featured Kitty Pryde, my longtime favorite. I don't think I read a book that actually came out this year, but I read all the George R.R. Martin series aloud to Chrissy, and that was a lot of fun, especially this line:
"Even his manhood was ugly, thick and veined, with a bulbous purple head." Try reading that aloud without faltering. Ahem.
Also, of course, the end of Devastation and Spotlight: Hardhead, though every other Revelations ish was just too cramped.
And All Hail Megatron, for the PASSION!
Personal Highlights of the year
My kid learned to walk. I taught a class in ethnic literature (yes, my white white self) with my favorite teacher at my side. I got my first fiction sale since 2005 (starting to wonder what was wrong!) and I will, hopefully, finish my damn novel by the end of the week.
Also, the banning threat from the IDW forums.

Actually quite tough, seeing as I spend most of my time playing catch-up on years gone by.
Favourite Films of 2008
Hellboy 2
Choke
Wall-E
The Dark Knight
Waltz With Bashir
Favourite Albums of 2008
Al Stewart - Sparks of Ancient Light
Favourite TV of 2008
Dexter
Harry Hill's TV Burp
Transformers: Animated
Favourite Comics and/or Books of 2008
X-Men Legacy
X-Factor
Max Dinos
Spotlight: Hardhead
Graham Rawle's Illustrated Wizard of Oz
Anthony Rowland's Land of Green Ginger
Personal Highlights of the year
Latest issue of Fuselit featured poetry heroes Luke Kennard, W. N. Herbert and Roddy Lumsden, as well as four Eric Gregory winners and other top poets, all of whom I somehow convinced to be in a mix & match Chimera-style supplemental booklet.
Did some decent readings/gigs.
Enjoyed collecting the Animated toys.
Made £3300 in one month - during the credit crunch, no less!

Re: Review of the Year 2008
Favourite Films of 2008
Iron Man. "This is not the worst thing you've caught me doing."
Tropic Thunder. "I don't read the script. Script reads me."
Screw the Dark Knight, the RDJ double takes it.
Favourite Albums of 2008
"The '59 Sound" by Gaslight Anthem. A better sequel to Sam's Town than the Killers managed, and more than makes up for the failings of Day & Age.
"Intimacy" by Bloc Party. After two listens, the downright weird gives way to the ******* genius.
Favourite TV of 2008
Battlestar Galactica. I don't need to explain that
Peep Show. "Toilet paper, OK. Soap, OK. But not shower gel. And no razors. If you're poor, grow a beard."
Doctor Horrible's Singalong Blog. Not technically television, but seriously [composite word including 'f*ck'] you, it's intarwebvision. And these are not the hammer.
Favourite Comics and/or Books of 2008
Fables.
Buffy 8.
Personal Highlights of the year
Being accosted in the street by a random stranger for the sole purpose of him telling me how much he enjoyed my last DJ set and wanting to know when I was playing again. Made all the more awesome by the fact my previous set had been godawful and I'd hated every second of it. Wooha!

Favourite Films of 2008
The Dark Knight

Tropic Thunder
Favourite Albums of 2008
Chinese Democracy
Favourite TV of 2008
Lost
Great Teacher Onizuka (live and anime, I'm waaaay behind on TV)
Favourite Comics and/or Books of 2008
Both of Obama's books
Memoirs of a Geisha (such an awesome book)
Watchmen (even better the 2nd or 3rd time!)
Personal Highlights of the year
On November 6th (JST) Barack Obama was elected President of the United States. As luck would have it, I had a party with the rest of the staff at my school that night. During the opening toast, the Principal (Kocho-Sensei) of my school said (in Japanese) "Today, Kevin's (that's me) country elected Obama to be the next president. This is great and everyone should congratulate Kevin on it!"
Later that night, I went to one of my favorite bars. The owner is a huge fan of American Blues music. So I went in there and we got to talking about Obama. As we're talking, the DVD that was playing switched to a clip of Martin Luther King's "I have a dream" speech. When King got to, "I might not get there with you..." the owner and I just lost it.
I should mention, for perspective, that Election Night was insane in my area. People were going nuts. Every time I walked into a bar, everyone looked at me, toasted, and yelled "Obama!"

Re: Review of the Year 2008
Favourite Films of 2008
Iron Man
Batman
Cloverfield (i think that was this year, right)
Er, Kung Foo Panda - serioulsy i watched it about 6 times while flying round the southern hemisphere and laughed like a drain every time.
There's lots i didn't see that i wanted too, still not seen Hellboy 2, Bond or Wanted. Need to get a handle on my cinema antics next year.
Favourite Albums of 2008
Made in The Dark - Hot Chip
All The Pieces Matter - Music from The Wire
Favourite TV of 2008
The Wire - Season 5
Screenwipe - everyone needs to watch this - bbc4 tuesdays
Favourite Comics and/or Books of 2008
Buffy Season 8
Fables
Hellboy - The Crooked Man
Marvel Zombies 3 (thus far)
Captain Britain & MI:13
Spotlight: Hardhead
Spotlight: Sideswipe
Warming Up - Volume 1 - Richard Herring
Ultimate Spiderman - always
Personal Highlights of the year:
Getting my transfer to Manchester approved the other day so i can move in with the missus - which essentially means my London project have to pay an extra 2K a month for me - not a bad endorsement and not bad in the crunch!
Other than that managing to squeeze in Hong Kong (dressed as Ron Burgandy), San Diego, Vegas, Singapore, Sydney, New Zealand and Fiji in one year was pretty cool.
