Er...really couldn't care less.

Hundreds of people are killed in the world every day.

Thousands of animals are killed in the world every day.

Entire species are being wiped out for the sake of profit.

Pollution is spiralling out of control.

There is no shortage of dogs or cats.

I honestly could not give a flying **** that a few pets were killed. Pets that are, essentially, wasteful luxury items.

Oh yeah, totally agree. It's just with all the things that I read about every day and am expected to care about, cats and dogs really don't feature high on the list. If it was the last few members of an endangered species or people they were killing, I would probably be more outraged. As it is, the loss of a few cats and dogs doesn't rate highly in my list of what's wrong with the world right now. It's depressing, sure, but it's not the sort of thing I'm likely to get worked up about.
