Internet at work

If the Ivory Tower is the brain of the board, and the Transformers discussion is its heart, then General Discussions is the waste disposal pipe. Or kidney. Or something suitably pulpy and soft, like 4 week old bananas.

Internet at work

Post by Scraplet » Thu Sep 27, 2007 10:41 pm

I'm not the most prolific poster around here by any means, but I regularly come for a lurk. Usually at lunchtime for a few minutes while I'm at work.

As of about two weeks ago, however, TransFans was declared off-limits by the IT fascists in my workplace. Any attempt to log in is met with the "you are trying to access a site who's content is considered unsuitable" screen.

Bastards! :x

So this site is only just above porn, ebay, myspace and Youtube as far as "they" are concerned, because those are the only other things I'm aware that I'd be refused.

I take 7 or 8 hours s*** for these people every day, and all I ask that I be allowed to read harmless crap off the internet for half a hour while I eat my sandwiches. Its not much to ask, is it?

I'm moaning about work again aren't I? I'll get me coat.......

Telling people what they can and can not do during their lunch is a great way to raise the work morale!

IT Support love to restrict access to things, they think it makes them good administrators.

Yeah, since our merger the other month, i've faced similar problems at the new office... thankfully Transfans isn't on the banned list! (I say, posting from work).

I agree, and I've come to learn that working for other people blows.

If I couldn't take a couple minutes to browse Transfans at work while I need a break I'd go insane.
