Halo 3

If the Ivory Tower is the brain of the board, and the Transformers discussion is its heart, then General Discussions is the waste disposal pipe. Or kidney. Or something suitably pulpy and soft, like 4 week old bananas.

Halo 3

I got it.

I've only played through a few levels.

But the point is not to post some sort of review and wax philosohpically about my opinions.

The point is.....If YOU have Halo 3.....

WHAT'S YOUR X-BOX LIVE GAMERTAG?

I was just waiting for someone to make this topic.
I'm getting it on Saturday.
One because I have no money til Friday.
Two because my reservation is in Houston and I'm kinda in Dallas..
Boo

I did get to play the game the moment it came out though.
Sigh...so amazing.
But my gamertag is zoodlebeans for whenever I finally get it ;D
I'm still working on my army...call me in 2 years.
I'll destroy you then.

Yeah, it's one polished S.O.B, allright.

Multiplayer is golden, although I'm still having difficulty finding nonranked Big Team Battles.

Story (through Mission 5) is everything you'd expect and more.

Oh yeah, and I forgot to mention,

Looks pretty sweet :) Will acquire this when finances are better.

I'm also loving the look of Little Blue Planet on PS3.

LBP looks good, but the more I read about it on the EDGE forum the more i grow concerned about it, its supposed to be this 'make your own game' tool kit (not that we dont have a million of them anyway, hey Halo 3 has the forge, but anyway) but it looks more and more like its a bit limited.

still, will have to wait a year before its release........

Oh, EDGE Halo 3 score = 10/10

It better not be limited :( That was the problem with Viva Pinata, which is otherwise a fun distraction, afetr about 5 hours of gameplay there's nothing really left to do :(

The spider thingy was fun to shoot :) My GF and I are playing it through on co-op and it's lots of giggles :) Much much better than GoW (I can see why it was popular, but just felt like house of the dead to me- go here and shoot everything, now go here and shoot everything...).

I love that when Impy is describing the game it sounds like total chaos with **** blowing up all over the place - and when Karl describes it, it's like Rayman Raving Rabbids :)

Is that the one I've seen on youtube? Where you essentially start the level by falling into a chasm unless you make a ridiculously impossible jump (only to be hit by a squid thing coming the other way?)

It was on the Mario All-stars right? Sort of SMB 1.5?

i completed that - i was so chuffed that i banged on about it and people took the piss at uni.

but i made that awful jump at the end!

er, on about the 98th attempt.

Man, that was one of the best value console collections ever...

Yeah thats it, and that Jump of the gods - If i recall, after u do the normal levels, they begin to go A-1,2,3,4 - B-1,2,3,4 etc...

that jumps on D-3 i think, u have to jump right on to the edge of a pipe, landing on a single pixel or the pirana plant eats you! brillant.

best compilation ever - Just realise ive never completed Mario 2, the shame!

This is the Lost Levels http://youtube.com/watch?v=AdTO9SyiT8Q
The one you're talking about was some sort of homebrew stuff I believe (correct me if I'm wrong). Namely, this one http://youtube.com/watch?v=RoIqx76jk_s

Mario 2 was a bit gash though, so i think we can let you off.

yeah, that jump, i think i just sat there and tried and tried until i got it. Normally i would just get bored and annoyed but Super Play had bigged up the kudos of finishing it so much i stuck at it.

My gamertag is Doggybot.

Finished Halo 3 on Sunday, normal difficulty but feel compelled to do it again on legendary with co-op. I loved every minute of this game.

Doggybot! I WONDERED who that was on my friends list. Sweet.

SMB All-Stars? Man, now you're really taking me back. That was quite the fun game. I liked Lost Levels, but I LOVED playing that Mario Bros. Battle Mode on SMB 3 when you landed on the same area as the other player. I remember playing that mini game by itself for hours at a time.

And although SMB 2 may not have fit in with the rest of the games, it still was fun and holds a special place in my heart. Has Father Time really robbed you of the bad assery that was a playable Princess Toadstool floating for 1.5 seconds? Shame on you. Ditto for Zelda 2, another maligned sequel from the NES days.

ON HALO:

I still haven't messed around with the Forge yet. BUT...if you have Halo 3, please go check out the Theater as it is the most bad ass, most revolutionary thing in the game, with the possible exception of the Forge.

Basically, Halo 3 AUTOMATICALLY records your last 25 games, whether they be campaign or multi, 5 minutes or a half hour. Then you can view the game from a multitude of angles and perspectives, much like when you've been fragged on a PC MP FPS. From this, you can stop at any point to take screenshots, make movies, etc.

You want to find out who the weakest link is on your team? Here you can watch everyone play out their entire game from their perspective. Want proof of that awesome thing you did last game? EASY AS MOTHERF***ING PIE, YO!

In typical MS fashion, the revolution here is not so much the actual playback (instant replay is old card), but the complete ease of use and ease of transferral between players, which basically opens the floodgates for EVERYONE to have personal highlight tapes, or for EVERYONE to make that time they stuck a plasma grenade on an Elite's crotch their desktop wallpaper, or for EVERYONE to make Machinma.

Speaking of crazy, bad ass things caught on tape in Halo 3:
