Robert Jordan dead

If the Ivory Tower is the brain of the board, and the Transformers discussion is its heart, then General Discussions is the waste disposal pipe. Or kidney. Or something suitably pulpy and soft, like 4 week old bananas.

Robert Jordan dead

Did anyone else read the Wheel of Time series? I kept reading, even when the quality suffered a massive dropoff. It's a shame he'll never finish it, and that a talented writer, despite his excesses, is gone.

wh... what!?
The page isn't loading for me but this comes as a shock... Some of my friends were just starting to read the Wheel of Time. I read it all 10+ years ago and stopped about book 9 or so.

It was a great world he created, it is a shame it will never be finished. (Until later on when someone can cash in on it)

Yeah, it's a real shame. Apparently he had the last book about quarter-halfie finished. Hopefully his wife or someone can cobble together enough of his notes that someone like George R.R. Martin or Jacqueline Carey can just sketch out a decent ending.

George R.R. Martin's got a rather heartfelt tribute here:

NOOOOOOOOOOOooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo.........

I was always afraid this was going to happen... he'd not be a well man for a while now and I think people knew, deep down, that he sadly, wasn't long for this world.

RIP RJ.
