I'm looking for a specific episode that I remember from my childhood but I don't know the name of the Ep or the ghost. The ghost looked like a giant eyeball in the middle of some sort of electric field. There was a scene where they confronted it on a dock with Ray using a gun mounted on the roof of Ecto-1 and the ghost shot back hitting the LED lights, causing jenine to step on the pedal and tear ass back to the firehouse. I think it ended with peter confronting the ghost alone. There was also a scene showing the ghost moving threw a cornfield or something. I haven't seen this in about two decades so that's mostly what I remember of it.

That would be the episode "Standing Room Only".
The ghost in question was a gigantic being known as Mee-Kraw who devoured other ghosts. Every time the being awoke and fed (periodically every few millenia) it would leave a giant desert in its wake. So, of course, when it awoke in the 80s it headed straight for the Containment Unit at the Firehouse.
Hundreds of ghosts, fearing that they were going to be eaten by Mee-Kraw, started storming the Firehouse, demanding to be captured by the Ghostbusters becuase they thought that would make them safe. Peter at the time had thought he'd built a "ghost attractor" which he assumed was the cause of the ghosts appearing at the Firehouse.
Eventually they figured out it was Mee-Kraw and attempted to stop him from entering New York and melting down the city. They figured that the best way to get rid of him was to draw him off course (after they realized their firepower had no effect in the scene described in the first post). So they TOOK THE GHOSTS THAT CAME TO THEM FOR PROTECTION and *fed* them to Mee-Kraw to try and draw them away.
Truly, the compassion of the Ghostbusters knows no limits.
That didn't work and Mee-Kraw entered the city, melting down skyscrapers and such as he approached the Firehouse. That's when Peter (well, Egon, really) realized that the "ghost attractor" was actually a device that stored ectoplasmic energy whenever it came into contact with ghosts. And since it had been around thousands of ghosts prior to Mee-Kraw's arrival, the thing was overflowing with energy. Peter released the energy which destroyed Mee-Kraw.
The episode was part of season 4 and is actually one of my favorites. It was animated by Toei and is one of the most gorgeous episodes of the series. It's available on a certain tube somewhere on the interweb if you catch my drift, so definately check it out.
