Fantastic 4 2. Fantastic 42? Life, the Universe and Everything? What?
Though according to the ratings certificate, the official title is "4: Rise of the Silver Surfer."
Which is reassuring, as the trailers made it look like it could be called "Rise of the Silver Surfer 4" and we all know about the confusion around Madness of King George IV.
What? Eh? Oh.
's alright. Pretty much more of the same off the back of the first one. Jessica Alba's still completely unconvincing as Sue and Chris Evans is the best thing in it.
Lightweight, cheeseball... low aspirations, but reaches them. Another mindless goofball popcorn movie.
Silver Surfer's fairly cool. Though most of his best stuff you've already seen in the trailers. Doom feels crowbarred in and is pretty naff. A few plot holes. Really like the version of Galactus... plus the regular could arguably be in there somewhere.
Decent enough. 3star flick. Nothing spectacular, nothing awful. Adequate. Does what it intends... if you liked the first one you'll probably enjoy this, if not then... yeah, probably not.
Sure that Ben Grimm's shrunk, though.

I think I liked the first one better. Yeah, generally it feels like this series tries to be a more of a family movie aimed for slightly younger audience than other comic book movies. Which I don't mind at all and actually would have prefered if Ghost Rider took this route instead trying to be too serious and failing.
When you know what to expect beforehand you shouldn't be disappointed. But like Brend said, if you didn't like the first flick, don't bother with this one.
Chris Evans must be one of the best casted actors in comic book movies.
Doom I could without too, cause it would only mean that they'd clobber with Surfer more than they did. I wonder if the want to bring him back for the third movie if it happens.
I managed to catch some outrage about Galactus on the 'net before the screening. Honestly, did people really expect to see a giant man trying to eat a planet? Meh.
It was kinda stupid that Frankie was already dating Johnny at the end.
Really glad that for once the final scene was shown before credits and not after them. Unless there was one after, too.

Apparantly there's a plan afoot to give him a solo flick.Ozz wrote:I wonder if the want to bring him back for the third movie if it happens.
Yeah, one thing these films have done right is the placement of the coda scene. Finish the movie, start to roll the credits, then bring it back up before people have had time to actually make it out of the door.Really glad that for once the final scene was shown before credits and not after them. Means you get it structured as an actual epilogue without half the audience missing it. X3 could have gotten away with doing it that way.

No, no, I meant Doom, sorry for not being clear. They managed to bring him back for this one, but now I wonder if he'll return for eventual third film. My first reaction after Ben sent him flying was "he's gonna drown", but then again his armour might be light enough to let him survive.Brendocon wrote:Apparantly there's a plan afoot to give him a solo flick.
