Any UK studenty-types ever considered travelling and TEFL?

If the Ivory Tower is the brain of the board, and the Transformers discussion is its heart, then General Discussions is the waste disposal pipe. Or kidney. Or something suitably pulpy and soft, like 4 week old bananas.

Yes, we've reached the stage at which my private life and random forum accounts overlap... as one or two people here know, I'm sodding off (big sigh of relief from the audience) from the end of June until about September, doing a couple of international language camps in Poland.

The organisation we're doing this with needs people. They're not incredibly fussy about recruitment, being a warm body and able to speak English clearly is about the extent of requirements for normal lektors.

There's a spiel here: http://virtualdebris.co.uk/apass/flyer.pdf

Total outlay is ~£130 for travel, for which you get a useful CV experience and a week touring Poland after the teaching, plus all meals/accommodation. Plus you'd want to get travel insurance and a bit of spending money, although you get a bit from the camp.

If anyone's feeling especially brave, can leave on the 27th and doesn't mind meeting me, I can find an application form to skip the "requesting information" bit of the process for applying and you can join our group...

Certainly something I'm laying the ground work for now, however I'm in full time employment and saving up for travelling costs so no for me I'm afraid :( Best of luck and safe travels though! :)

Actually what you sense is general panic. ;)

Are there many studenty types left here? I think we're all getting old...

You might have younger siblings or something... :)

Any age is welcome (college age would need parental permission, obviously) I just said that as relatively few older bods would be in a position to go for a month / two months.
Best of luck
Cheers, hopefully won't need it, but it never hurts to have some in reserve...

APASS is a handful of individuals in the UK who have personal contacts with the Polish ministry of education, so I doubt it -- there are probably similar schemes, though. Last time we went there was a music camp on the same site whose staff members were from the US and Ireland.
