A Tribute To My Hero

If the Ivory Tower is the brain of the board, and the Transformers discussion is its heart, then General Discussions is the waste disposal pipe. Or kidney. Or something suitably pulpy and soft, like 4 week old bananas.

A Tribute To My Hero

Post by Hound » Sun May 13, 2007 6:37 pm

I sit here typing this with tears in my eyes as today was Robbie Fowler's last game at Anfiled, and possibly his last game for Liverpool FC.

Since making his debut for Liverpool in 1993 he has scored 186 goals in 368 games. A record any striker in the world would be proud of.

I can't help but feel what more he could have achieved if Houlier hadn't have sold him straight after winning the cup treble over 3 years ago.

I cried the day he was sold, and I cried when we resigned him last year.

To me it's about more than Football though. Robbie Fowler hit the scene shortly after a major upheaval in my life. My parents had split up, I had just moved towns and changed schools. I was lonely, angry and cared about nothing. I had no heroes at that time, but after seeing Robbie score 5 goals in only his second game for Liverpool I suddenly had some one to look up to.

So I want to say thanks to Robbie Fowler. Thank you for all of the wonderful goals and memories you have given Liverpool fans, and thank you for inspiring me, and giving me something to care about at a time when I cared about nothing.

Bloody fowler! I think he has a record for scoring more goals against villa than anyone in the history of the game!

I dreaded his name on the teamsheet whenever I went to see Villa v Liverpool.

Bloody good in his prime

He reminded me a lot of MLT over the past few years. Not even a relentless diet of pies can stop him scoring.

I don't think there's a club in the country that wouldn't want him.
Grrr. Argh.
