But I would guess there are other people here (Ironhide and PMOP come to mind, Blacksword/Yaya on religion) who can be in the ideolgocial minority sometimes, but they don't leave. Hopefully OPR just lurks.

It doesn't matter what you discuss, someones opinion will always be in the minority.
I'm sure there's someone here who stands up when wiping, then finish it of by splashing water all over the badonkadonkdonk (I believe that someone would be a minority).
Some people can handle it - others can't.

But that's what fun about this place. Reading different viewpoints, etc.
I would probably leave if every topic went "So, do you like Spider-man 3?" and then there's fifteen posts that all just say "Yes."
Where's the fun in that?

And I'm sure that we all respect each other here, even though our opinions aren't always the same.
I know I'm not a religious person - but I have total respect for Blacksword and everyone else who's religious.

EDIT: And I don't get the whole "assholefest"-thingy. There's like thirty topics about random fun **** just on the first page of General Discussion?

To be honest, having just been labbelled an asshole (possibly fair, but anyway...) along with everyone who posts here, my reponse probably runs along the lines of '**** you and your sh!t beard".

i would mind less if he actually had made an actual point in any of this but recently his only contribution i can recall is to qoute a line in a topic and call peole names, or get really angry when anyone suggests that his personal experiences is not neccessarily the be all and end all in terms of debating a point.

Basically i think he has anger issues and given that this is his response to in fact recieving quite a bit of support over the years from people here is to storm off in a huff because he can't accept some people having differnt opinions on some things - well basically good bye and good luck, but i'm not exactly mourning the exit.

If I have a problem here I wouldnt leave. I would stay and adress the problem. Leaving dont solve things. And as many have pointed it before. Transfans as far as I remember has been the same all the time (And in occassions worst!)

It boils down to how well you can ignore the overabundance of sarcasm. Some handle it better than others.

There is nastiness from both sides now. Hooray.

I like Joey and I want him to stay. The guy made a few comments (about guns and boars) and took offense at pointed, but insensitive replies. That's not a reason to split a group of friends.

If you're set on leaving the board, then I can't stop you. But I thought it might be worth it to question whether we've been too harsh. I've spilled some deep, painful stuff here on this board, as has Joey. Maybe we should be a bit more sensitive? And, on the other side, more open about when something is hurtful?

I can rarely think of a time when someone has contributed to a discussion and not made a point definitely worth listening to, there might be some issues around tact however which could do with being reexamined on both sides (which I know I've been guilty of before also).

I'm not sure you were around when I was a more regular contributor (things are getting fuzzy in my old age), but I've had some drop down drag out rows over certain issues with some of the guys here, Paul included. I may be politically left-wing, but I'm also a Christian on a board which has decent number of vocal, articulate, atheists. MV and I in particular have had some harsh words. And so have Paul and I, because when it comes down to it if Paul disagrees with you on something strongly, he's not one to mince words. It's who he is. I find his approach a bit confrontational at times, but he doesn't do it to purposely piss people off. I raised (a number of) objections to the way religious views were treated on the board but after a few more rows Paul and I sorted things out and I still post here whenever I can. Paul and I see eye to eye on a lot of stuff but on religion we're almost dead opposite, but we can still be friends. Yeah, he can be a royal (or would that be republican?) pain in the arse (especially because he's often right, and is good at pointing out what's wrong with your argument) but he's a good guy.

Just my two cents
