He had a bit of a falling out over the amount of off-topic stuff he posted, iirc. Shame he took it to heart and stuff, cos I used to enjoy his banter. I don't think the door is closed to him though.....Hot Shot wrote:Speaking of missing people, I noticed that Autobloke used to post here. Did he ever have a formal goodbye or do you suppose that he'll return at some point?

Far as I know, this thread was Autobloke's last active involvement here (which doesn't exactly show me in my best light, but I've already admitted being a **** in this thread, so why bother being revisionist?):
http://transfans.net/phpBB2/viewtopic.p ... sc&start=0
Which is a shame, as when he wasn't posting for the sake of it, he was actually alright.
Emvee's alive somewhere... he's Facebookable or something.

Quite a shame. I was kinda hoping that he'd return after the new movie blows over(He hangs out over at the movie board now), but I doubt it now.Brendocon wrote:Far as I know, this thread was Autobloke's last active involvement here (which doesn't exactly show me in my best light, but I've already admitted being a **** in this thread, so why bother being revisionist?):

On a happier subject, will there be a Newbie of the Year 2007?

Autobloke ran off with Senior's Covenant to start their own board, where they can spam to their heart's content. Also, they've managed to keep a stream of vitriol directed at the movie far longer and steadier than us, for better or for worse.
But more to the point, last I heard, 'Bloke had some romantic sparks between himself and another board member over there. I think she posted here a few times, I think her name is Chromia or Kup-1 or perhaps both. Anyway, point is, we can't compete with sexual tension. Or the love of a good woman. [insert Transfans one liner here]
And we'll definitely have a Newbie 2007. It looks like there will be more competition for that one then there was in 2006. I think I got beat out by OPR and Unique Ron when I was up for that award. Neither of which are around at the second, let us not forget.

Yes. Yes we will. And this is as good a time as any for my old old, grey, grey braincells to remember to post the vote-topic for 2006....Shanti418 wrote:Autobloke ran off with Senior's Covenant to start their own board, where they can spam to their heart's content. I have actually made 3 wrestler-sigs, so I'll post what I've got. The fun just seemed to have been drained all out of it that year tho.

He should try Murphy's board, or even TFW2005 (the two are really similar these days), then he'll realize how good he had it here.Shanti418 wrote:That SPECIFIC quote is from the school shooting, yeah, but the themes of
Scaring off differently minded people and OPR making big sweeping generalizations and saying he's leaving having been around for awhile, like BF said.
Frankly I had heated discussion with Karl and others about religion too some time ago (long time ago actually) but then most people here actually prove their points with logic and don't answer posts by trying to ridicule the poster. One of the reason I like it here - the average IQ of the board members highly surpasses some other board's members...

We often like to beat our chests over this fact, but does this mean....BB Shockwave wrote: Frankly I had heated discussion with Karl and others about religion too some time ago (long time ago actually) but then most people here actually prove their points with logic and don't answer posts by trying to ridicule the poster. A) We are the cream of the Transfans crop, with our logical metaphysical discussions and large words.
or
B) In a world of people who spend thousands on 20 year old toys, muse about continuity issues in comics, and threaten violence over movie designs, only we manage to mix this type of fandom with some modicum of intelligence.
In other words, perhaps we're simply geniuses surrounded by dunces, which makes us look that much more smart.

I hate you for pointing this out... But you're totally right on this.Shanti418 wrote:

I wonder, would we look like dunces on a serious sci-fi forum where 40 year olds post? (if there is such a place)

I would say so. As we are "Cartoon sucks!" and "Truck not Monkey", they would be "Transformers is a toy line, not sci fi, loooosers!!!!" lolBB Shockwave wrote:I hate you for pointing this out... But you're totally right on this.Shanti418 wrote:

Hopefully they'll have learnt to spell "loser" by the time they're 40. Looser is perhaps the one bit of nerdspeak that pisses me off more than anything else.Shanti418 wrote:I would say so. [yes, I know that was elongated deliberately for emphasis, I was using it as a prompt]
