Anyone ever get it in their youth?
Admitedly it's the comic that got me away from the Transformers comics, but 2000AD is a cult UK sci-fi comic featuring Judge Dredd that has been going for over 30 years. It's also had some very long lasting characters like Nemesis the Warlock, Rogue Trooper and STrontium Dog to name a few. I first got into it when i was 11 and got it every week throughout my higher school years.
I think i got a special in 96 and picked up one copy after 2000, but by then the comic was looking pretty tired with so so art, even dodgy dot colouring and had seen better days. But latetly with a friend buying hardback books of all the stories (Volumes 1, 2, 3+ etc from the 70's upwards). This friend picked up a recent copy and it seems to be on the up again.
There's a Dredd origins story, the ABC Warriors return again in a new story with art by Clint Langley. Now my friend said his art was good so i went to check it out:

There's some really really nice art there, so much so i've been slowly picking up copies myself now. So any thoughts on 2000AD and Clint Langley's art?

Re: 2000AD
The art is totally making the current ABC Warriors story worthwhile. The writing is fine, but the storyline is a retelling of each Warrior's origin. It's a pretty faithful retelling, which basically means you know the entire story already....so it's good that the art is so mindblowing.HoistKeeper 2.0 wrote:There's some really really nice art there, so much so i've been slowly picking up copies myself now. They've done Hammerstein and Mongrol so far, with Joe Pineapples's origin going on at the moment. The first part of the story also featured a plot-development for Mek-Quake. It's good, but not worth picking the comic up for on it's own; especially with there being a big hiatus on Jude Dredd: Origin at the moment. Hopefully it'll be traded eventually - that would be worth it.
2000AD (Dredd in particular) has been on the rise again for the last several years. There are some really nice TPBs out at the minute if you want to sample some modern stuff. I'd recommend Judge Dredd: Brothers of the Blood as a good place to start - it links old and new material perfectly. Also maybe worth a punt for a returning reader is the Complete PJ Maybe. Both should still be easily available.

Oh i dunno, I've been enjoying the Kingdom series alot, it's good especially if you like the film a clockwork orange which it reminds me of with the way they talk. I also enjoy Stickleback as it's quite different from anything else in the comic.KingMob wrote: The art is totally making the current ABC Warriors story worthwhile. I missed the first couple of parts of the ABC warriors stories unfortunetly, and the orgins story so far, since i got back into the comic is been on interlude which is kinda annoying. I am enjoying a current story though with one of my favourite 2000AD artists Ian Gibson, about a strange judge doing mercy killings.
Thanks, the friend of mine buys the complete edition volumes of Dredd that are out, but it'll be a while till it gets to those.2000AD (Dredd in particular) has been on the rise again for the last several years. With Dredd and 2000AD in general i read it from about 11 - 16/17, (1897 - 1992/3) (had a bit of a gap picked up a copy in 95, 2002 for nostalgia and to see how it was going and nothing till this year. I've always enjoyed - Dredd (Inc. dark judges), ABC Warriors, Rogue Trooper, Nemesis The Warlock and Bad Company, those were mostly my favourites.
