Easily one of the best. Better than all the Brosnan films I say.

Craig looks bloody lethal. And Eva Green is a goddess. I recommend 'The Dreamers' if you'd like to see constant exposure of her perfectly formed breasts.

Anyhow...

Aye, Casino Royale is easily one of the best Bond films, and I'm inclined to agree with the assessment that Daniel Craig is the best Bond since Sean Connery. Not a film for those who like goofy, gadget, ridden Bond films, but that audience aside I can't see anyone not liking this film. Not only was this one a good Bond film, it stands as a good film in and of itself.

And the greatness of Daniel Craig as Bond are summed by the line, "a little more to the right."

Well, that's good. I had no intention of going to see this movie, but a girl invited me out to see it with her tomorrow night. She's pumped about it.

So if a girl invites you to go see a movie, is that a date? Should I try and pay for her?

Just got in, it was bloody brilliant, and not entirely what I was expecting, which was a pleasant surprise.

I thought the Venice bit dragged a little bit, but that may just have been impatience (and nicotine cravings) on my part. Otherwise thoroughly impressed. I had to stop myself from jumping onto passing cars and fighting people on the way home. I wish I had a gun.

See? See? They are washing our brains! :ididit:

I'll give it a shot - I watched all Bond movies so far, but lately they became somewhat predictable. If Casino Royale trule brought it back to the roots (I never read the book) that's always a good thing.

I thought it was pretty good.

Seemed very action packed, except the whole poker thing drug for a bit. The first half hour just blew me away, though.

Craig's Bond is excellent. This dude's a killer AND he's hot, and he wants you to know it.

Wasn't quite the payoff I was expecting at the end, but sets up nicely for sequels.

I probably liked it more than anything since Goldeneye.

That's what I'm talking about when I say the payoff wasn't what I was expecting. To a degree, the main culprit's and the main object's status remain very much in question as the end, and they said the next movie will continue along with this storyline.

So who would win in the battle of the JBs? James Bond or Jack Bauer?

Bond.

Bauer would SHOUT VERY LOUDLY, but throw his gun down and surrender peacefully the moment somebody pointed out he was breaching international law.

Okay, he'd probably mount a heroic escape bid at a later juncture when needed, but he'd try to avoid a diplomatic incident from the off.

Exactly.

Bond would do what he had to do, then look smug as he got a dressing down from M.

The way I see it, everytime they get a new Bond, the first movie with the new guy in it is damn amazing.

(George Lazenby excluded, cause frankly...he was terrible)

Still though, I remember a few critics saying OHMSS could have been the best Bond ever if Connery had been Bond still, so it doesn't truly break the trend.

Yeah, it had one of the best stories, had someone who looked the part and was pretty nifty in the fight scenes, and a brilliant Bond girl. But Lazenby just didn't have the charisma. If only Sean had been in it.

In related news, Chris Moyles is a moron who apparantly thinks it's stupid that Bond falls in love, because the whole point of the character is that he loves them and leaves them. Apparantly Moyles is too dim to comprehend that we're being shown why.

Also, in awesome news that doesn't involve ****wit DJs:

Has the studio said anything about whether Casino Royale represents a prequel or a complete reset for the movie franchise?

Though as a friend pointed out this movie could be taken as unintentionally validating Never Say Never Again, given that Felix Ungar (sp?) is African American again. ;)

Its a reboot, no way around it really. Judi Dench is still M (even though she took over in Goldeneye). Bond hasn't met Leiter yet (though they already met in Dr No).

But I'll treat it as a prequel and not think too hard about it. Its not as if the franchise hasn't had lapses in the logic of its timeline before.

But if they start remaking Goldfinger et al, then nothing is sacred.

Continuity-wise, it's actually a direct sequel to 1990's "3 Little Ninjas and the Lost Treasure".

FACT.

Yeah, I've pretty much concluded it was a reboot too, though you never know with these things. And don't ask why I said Felix Ugar.... Felix Leiter oy!

I've read that it's a reboot as well. Straight off reimagining, (or renaissance, if you look at Craig's more bookish characterization) a la IDW
