I just wanted to get this out there

If the Ivory Tower is the brain of the board, and the Transformers discussion is its heart, then General Discussions is the waste disposal pipe. Or kidney. Or something suitably pulpy and soft, like 4 week old bananas.

I just wanted to get this out there

"My feeling as a Christian points me to my Lord and Savior as a fighter. It points me to the man who once in loneliness, surrounded only by a few followers, recognized these Jews for what they were and summoned men to fight against them and who, God's truth! was greatest not as a sufferer but as a fighter.

In boundless love as a Christian and as a man I read through the passage which tells us how the Lord at last rose in His might and seized the scourge to drive out of the Temple the brood of vipers and adders. How terrific was his fight against the Jewish poison.

Today, after two thousand years, with deepest emotion I recognize more profoundly than ever before the fact that it was for this that He had to shed his blood upon the Cross.

As a Christian I have no duty to allow myself to be cheated, but I have the duty to be a fighter for truth and justice . . .

And if there is anything which could demonstrate that we are acting rightly, it is the distress that daily grows. For as a Christian I have also a duty to my own people. And when I look on my people I see them work and work and toil and labor, and at the end of the week they have only for their wages wretchedness and misery.

When I go out in the morning and see these men standing in their queues and look into their pinched faces, then I believe I would be no Christian, but a very devil, if I felt no pity for them, if I did not, as did our Lord two thousand years ago, turn against those by whom today this poor people are plundered and exploited."

- Adolf Hitler, speaking on 12th April 1922
Printed in My New Order by Adolf Hitler, 1941

I'm not really trying to start a discussion about this, I just wanted to have a thread to link to whenever one of the Christians brings up the old "Hitler was an atheist" argument, which really, really gets on my tits.
I would have waited a ******* eternity for this!!!!

You don't have to be a Christian to embrace voodoo.

I seriously refuse to believe that Hitler spelt "realise" with a "z"...

Its Interesting to note:

Jesus was jew
His followers were jews
His mother was Jew
His allegedly lover (Magdalene) was jew

*scribbles down source*

This is very, very helpful to me.

I don't know how many debates I have had with Christians who use the words and actions of the likes Saddam Hussein and Osama Bin Laden to define my religion.

Maybe I should now do the same. Lord knows this is some major kind of ammo.
"But the Costa story featuring Starscream? Fantastic! This guy is "The One", I just know it, just from these few pages. "--Yaya, who is never wrong.

Whatever you have to do to make sure that you get Hitler and Atheism off your tits is fine by me, mate. That **** burns if you leave it on too long.

He wasn't an atheist, but he was no real catholic/christian either. During the first years of his rule, he and the churches pretty much got along, but Hitler planned ahead, well-knowing that they would turn agains them. To that end (and because of his arian agenda) he started an 'arch-german" religion, that was basically based on norse mythology. This was late during the war, of course, and he couldn't finish destroying the old churches, but that was pretty much his plan. The Hitlerjugend was charged with going to churches and observing the priests, reporting if they spoke up against the Nazi regime.

Hitler also didn't live like a christian... didn't go to church regularry, and when he finally married Eva Braun before they died, it was a regular no-church wedding. Umm, also sending millions of people to their deaths is not really in line with the ten testaments, either...

I choose to ignore the old testament, mostly... especially the parts like "And they pierced the eyes of the aramites with arrows of flame" or "loathsome are the ammonites, for they live in shells" :) It's pretty much a history book mostly ( there are exceptions, naturally) and as with all history books, it's written by the victors, so it's pretty much biased.

And didn't Jesus say 'love thy fellow man" is the second most important commandment? Also explaining that fellow man means everyone, not just fellow jews (it meant that until Jesus).

I thought ammonites existed mostly in the Cambrian and Precambrian eras...

Waitasec. If ammonites existed at the same time as man, maybe dinosaurs did too!

Dinosaurs do exist at the same time as man.

Okay, they're slightly less fleshy and slightly more with the "being fossilised" than they used to be... but they're still about!

Then, I would guess that those ammonites are more loathesome than any of us could ever have imagined!

Naturally I meant these ammonites... :D

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ammon

Though I guess you knew that... I heard that joke here at Transfans, actually, not sure who said it though...

Actually, Ammon - the god - had horns, and the paleontological ammonites were named after the similarity to a curved /spiral-like horn.

Dinosaurs do exist at the same time as man.
Surely they do! In the Savage land! When molested by Shockwave :ididit: or genetically manipulated by Magneto, they get along fine with the caveman living there... 8)
