Oasis Interview

If the Ivory Tower is the brain of the board, and the Transformers discussion is its heart, then General Discussions is the waste disposal pipe. Or kidney. Or something suitably pulpy and soft, like 4 week old bananas.

You can love or hate Oasis/the Gallaghers, but their interviews are always brilliant and often hilarious.

Stop the Clocks is a massive missed opportunity though. They should have released a Beatle-type best of double album with 40+ tracks on. Idiots.

But it's an album they didn't want to do isn't it? No wonder it's only half arsed. Still, it's got the six or so Oasis songs I like on it so that'll be a purchase when it goes in sales.

thing is, as there is no new material, the record company could have just shown sense and followed Dave's suggestion themselves.

Yeah, but Noel wasn't willing to let them do it on their own in case they ****** it up.

So he's naturally stepped in and bollocksed it up for them.

What's so difficult about doing a chronological singles collection? I mean really? With an extra disc of selected B-Sides?

Still, at least it looks better than Forever Delayed...
Grrr. Argh.

But the most telling statistic is that 14 of the 18 tracks were released in 1994 or 1995. In other words, Gallagher seems to be admitting what many of us believed: that his band - and his songs - peaked over a decade ago.

"Yeah, of course," he shrugs. "We're talking about the best of Oasis here. If you stop the man in the street and ask 'What's Oasis's best album?', a few might say Don't Believe the Truth, which is great, but the squares will say Morning Glory and the cool people will say Definitely Maybe. That album should just be called the Best of Oasis."
Then why even make a Greatest Hits album? We can just dig out our Definitely Maybe album. :) I think I must have it lying around somewhere.

I like Don't Look Back In Anger (mainly for Steed in the video) and the B&W one mainly. Oh, and the one that sounds like a Beatles song... which was that again? :)

The one that doesn't sound exactly like a Bonzo Dog Doo Dah song?

I go through periods of hating Oasis and loving them and then hating them again. I think it's a case of Belle & Sebastian syndrome though, where I hate their fans a lot more than the band itself.
I would have waited a ******* eternity for this!!!!

Yeah, I like Morning Glory the best as well. Don't Look Back in Anger is still tops.

What is it about Belle & Sebastian that turns even nice people into snobs?

I could never stand Oasis, except for Don't Look Back In Anger. Guess I'm into all that indie ****.
