Spider-Man 3 Trailer

If the Ivory Tower is the brain of the board, and the Transformers discussion is its heart, then General Discussions is the waste disposal pipe. Or kidney. Or something suitably pulpy and soft, like 4 week old bananas.

That is how you make a good movie!!!!

If Bay directed it it would be.

Sand? Thats not real! We should make him made of lets see... of fur! yes that is very realistic.

Spiderman suit? It should be of metal.

Spiderman with web shooters? NO, he needs a jet.

And he should be like 30 years old... Oh well

The thing with Marko being Ben's murderer kinda bugs me, but otherwise - great!

There's a great chance that 4 will happen but without main cast.

... I actually now have less of a need to see the film, seeing as I've just seen most of the plot. :o

This was also my trouble with Spidey 2. :(

Damn my need for trailery goodness.

Bit worried that the film might be too "busy"... but hot damn if that doesn't look anything short of fantastic.

Wow, wow, wow.

Retconning the Uncle Ben thing jars a bit, but at least it makes Sandman more than just a token baddie.

Excited about Venom!

I love this cast. I wish they'd stay for 4. :(

Yeah, it's a bit more valid than the Joker thing in Burton's Batman - The Joker didn't really need it.

Could say Sandman doesn't need it... but he's not quite as iconic, and it gives it that extra bit of personal needle to ramp it up to the same emotional level as Harry (and presumably Brock). Gives Peter a reason to fully embrace the hate. Thematically, I think it's pretty sound.

But thematically it neuters the chase scene after Ben's death in Spidey 1 a bit now. :(

The Sandman killed Uncle Ben thing...doesn't bother me. I believe they're going to do something like "Sandman pulled the trigger, but the other guy was still a big part of it." It'll make a for a good story, so I don't really care.

As for a new cast...I would LOVE that! I can't tell you how happy I'd be with a new cast. Get Tobey Maguire and Kirstin Dunst as far away from the franchise as possible! Peter Parker, after being bitten by the spider, was never somebody you wanted to smack around. He was still a nerd, but he was tolerable. As for Dunst...No. Just. No. Did Sam Raimi read those early Romita Spider-Man books? Mary Jane is not some pretty girl. She is a knock-out. She should be the most beautiful person in the movie. Not just among the main characters, but there should be no extra in a background shot hotter than her. It's one roll where I could really see them pulling a super-model in for because Mary Jane IS a super-model. She is the exception to Peter Parker's everyman life. His aunt's always sick. He doesn't make friends easily. His boss is a dick. His social life is a joke. But he's got this unbelievably hot woman to come home to at the end of a crappy day. Mary Jane is the little bone he's been tossed for being the toilet of the Marvel Universe for so long.

Ideally, get Jake Gyllenhal in there as Peter and get an acting-prone 20-something super-model in there for Mary Jane.

yes to Gyllenhal, please god no to a super model - looks are far from MJ's only characteristic

i think both Maguire and Dunst were excellent casting

They're not her only characteristic, but they're her most defining one. I don't think Marvel even got into her backstory until 1984. They hinted that she wasn't as happy as she always appeared to be, but it wasn't until the end of the Alien Costume Saga that we found out what the deal was.

I just don't think either of them gave very convincing performances in the first Spidey movie. Better in 2, no doubt, but I have to watch the first one in Spanish with the subtitles on to make the flick watchable. They seemed to display contempt for their roles during the filming of them.

Gyllenhall as Spidey? Given that Ledger is Teh New Joker... I don't think my sanity could stand the inevitable slew of "hilarious" jokes...

Dunst has a weird hold over me. She's not exactly stunning, but...

Take the film Elizabethtown. At the start Jessica Biel is in it. She's ridiculously stunningly hot and attractive.

Then Kirsen Dunst steps into the film and I instantly want to run off with her and have all her babies.

Anyway, carry on.

i whole heartedly disagree with yoru assessment.

also you have to bear in mind that we have more than one MJ these days (ultimate will probably be as familiar to many people) and that, while what you say might have been true in 1984... its not 1984.

Oh yeah, as Ultimate Spider-Man, the first flick was pretty much spot on. Nothing against Ultimate Spider-Man, it's a great series, but I greatly prefer the original Mary Jane. She's such a complicated character. Ultimate MJ seems like every comic book supporting cast member.

I think he means that she's the chick who, for all you know, could be teh uberbrain with an awesome personality, but you don't really care because she's **** hot and everybody else wants her body and that's all that matters.

So giving her a personality and an actress with a slightly skewed face is a bad thing.

Or something. I'm not sure.

I'd have to agree. While being hot is not MJ's only positive aspect, it could be said it's her BIGGEST aspect. I just don't think Dunst could bring it.

I'm cool with Tobey, though. I wouldn't like to see Jake G. do it, that's for sure. Perhaps we should past some law that legally requires Christian Bale to act as the main lead in all superheroe movies.

Recasting? Go young. Ultimate Young.

I'm not saying she's not attractive, she's just not a vivacious, buxom, beauty. She's more of a gentle flowe, I dunno. Perhaps not enough curves?
