For you to read?
I'd say Morisson's run is probably a good place to start if you're fond of the movies. E is for Extinction, followed by Imperial, iirc. All fairly recent so easy to get hold of. Ranges from brilliant to dodgy (as it progresses), but for the large part it's enjoyable. Flawed in a lot of respects (thanks to some retcons which completely shaft some of it)m but it leads into Whedon's stuff, which is fab.
Marvel haven't had a consistent way of releasing the olde stuff, to be fair. You can get random collections, but it's hard to sit down with a starting point.
Mutant Massacre, Dark Phoenix, Mutant Genesis all spring to mind as good reads...
[EDIT] - Morrison's complete run is being released in funky omnibus edition:
http://www.amazon.co.uk/New-X-Men-Omnib ... F8&s=books
Gonna buy that myself when it's cheaper.

Where the hell is "V for Vendetta" on that list? Top 10 for me, as is The Crow, also missing.
I agree with Superman I and Superman II, as well as Batman Begins all being up there.

"But the Costa story featuring Starscream? Fantastic! This guy is "The One", I just know it, just from these few pages. "--Yaya, who is never wrong.

Juggernaught... defeated by Kitty, of all people? I'm not a big X-fan, but it felt like when I saw Wheeljack and Bumblebee defeat Devastator in the GI Joe crossover. Besides the whole X triology was so pointless. They could have done so many better stories with the whole Magneto plot. X2 was a total waste as it is.Brendocon wrote:
Juggernaut... the mutant thing doesn't bother me so much. The only interesting thing I've ever seen in Juggs is his relationship with Xavier - was really looking forward to seeing how they'd handle that. And they just glossed over it. May as well have been The Blob.
About the list... Blade as number 5? Come on... that comic AND the movie sucked.
And where is V for Vendetta? As far as comic adaptations go, it was one of the more true to origin adaptations.
"I've come to believe you are working for the enemy, Vervain. There is no other explanation... for your idiocy." (General Woundwort)

How did Blade get made before Spider-Man, X-Men, Hulk, Daredevil, and (sort of) Fantastic Four? It's like New Line wanted to do a comic book movie...but without any recognizable characters...

Where was the 60's Batman Movie?
Batman Returns is a film that's easier to admire than it is to like- Lots and lots of cleaver stuff (Bruce and Selina being the only people at the party not in fancy dress ect ect) and another top draw performance from Christopher Walken but very little plot. And the bit where batman blows up a clown with a smug look on his face is just wrong (my favorite bit of Batman Begins was Alfred taking him to task over all the chaos he's caused, about time someone did in these movies...). And Keaton's resemblence to the singer of Uptown Girl allways makes me expect Shrek to go "Billy Joel! Why are you dressed up like Batman?". I saw this with my father at the cinema (I wasn't even 15, hardcore!!!111!!!) and he fell asleep. Mind, he was blind drunk and probably pissed the seat as well.
Hellboys great up until the end. the CGI Lovecraftian monster is very nice looking, but there's no sense of Hellboy Vs. Ra-Ra-Rasputine (the madest monk in history), the fight the films been leading up to. It has the same flaw as the original ending to Blade where Dorf turned into a blood monster- In that case the film makers realised in time the audience wanted to see the baddy they recognised get his rather than a random bit of CGI.
I've liked all the X-Men films, but don't think we've yet had one that's fullfilled the potential of the franchise to produce a brilliant film. Which is a shame because I can see the odds of that geting less likely with the next one.
Hulk was very wierd. the plot went like this: One hour of Ahngst. Five minuets of CGI poodles. Another hour of Ahngst. Five minuets of Nick Nolte on enough drugs to keep Kate Moss high for a week.
I love Batman Begins for bringing Rutger Hauer out of straight to DVD hell. And I cheered when Shane Rimmer turned up.
