Why is Harry Potter winning undermining the whole thing? Serenity was alright, and clearly its fanbase won it some good results on this, but it did not deserve everything and the Potter movie was excellent. BSG losing out again is unfortunate, but it did pick up the Peabody best drama award in the USA a few weeks back so it at least gets some recognition.

Fair enough. I prefered Harry Potter simply because something about Joss Whedons way of writing irritates me a little bit, not enough for me to dislike the programs, but it does somewhat spoil the enjoyment.

actually the point i was really making is that people just vote for what they know they like, without any real critical comparison.

how many of the people who voted for potter do you think have seen Sernity? its all about mobilisation of fanbase rather than anything meaningful.

Equally if these rewards were a true reflection of popularity Serenity would have been a huge smash or would never have been made as Firefly would never have been axed.

There's also the issue that Serenity was the only Firefly-related thing that was properly eligible for the given time period... and it's the one that didn't win.

I seem to remember Emvee swearing that Ep 3 was awesome as long as large amounts of marijuana were involved.

I think it wasnt nominated for special effects or somthing - regardless of how naff the film is, the effects are very good.
