If the Ivory Tower is the brain of the board, and the Transformers discussion is its heart, then General Discussions is the waste disposal pipe. Or kidney. Or something suitably pulpy and soft, like 4 week old bananas.

Okey, the subject title is a bit exaggerated
http://www.starpulse.com/news/index.php ... khstan_s_l
I've also read that the Kasakh goverment threatened to sue Sacha Baron Cohen, so he made this homepage
http://www.borat.kz/ (which the goverment shut down) and wrote `I like to state, I have no connection with Mr Cohen and fully support my government's position to sue this Jew.'' Also "Since 2003 ... Kazakhstan is as civilized as any other country in the world, Women can now travel on inside of bus, homosexuals no longer have to wear blue hat and age of consent has been raised to eight years old.''

I heard Larry David had a private screening of the Borat movie and laughed so hard he had to stop it half way through.
Hell of an endorsement!

"We have made it clear that we are unhappy with the character's representation. He does not represent the true people of Kazakhstan."
No sh** sherlock.
Maybe i should sue John Cleese for faulty towers because i feel Basil Faulty does not represent the true people of Great Britain.
Shouldn't they be more concerned with stuff like "elections that the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe said fell short of international standards."?
I think it is hilarious this is on the international agenda

We can sue him together! He played a Hungarian tourist in Monty Ptyhon's flying Circus once, and 'Yandelawasa Grwedni Stravenka!" means absolutely nothing in hungarian! The outrage!

When Borat first came out, the Guardian showed a few episodes to Kazakhstani people, and they mostly complained that the moustache wasn't right - he looked more like he was Turkish, they said. They didn't seem offended in the least.
I did think SBC's response was brilliant, though.
I would have waited a ******* eternity for this!!!!

Remember when he was rumored to be doing the voices of one of the Autobots and everyone thought it would suck? Less so now.

ok, this big uproar was on the BBC news monday night - the final clip they showed was of Borat saying " please watch my film - Or I will be executed!"
they cut back to the studio, where the serious newcasters were laughing - then they tried to pretend that they too thought Borat wasnt all PC... was funny.

Haha. This is insane.
The president of Khaz... is in the USA saying that "Khazak... is a country that's tolerant of other religions, and a country where men and women are equal".
Cue Borat interview "These are all lies! This is propaganda from Uzbekistan!"
I don't know if the link works - and there's probably some swedish in there - but the Borat interview is there, togheter with some newspaper headlines.

If I wanted something credible I'd watch a documentary on Kazakhstan, or even better, go there myself.
I'm still deeply offended at the way Austin Powers portrayed the British as short sighted, stupid, horny and with poor dental higene. Not.

I saw it last night, I was almost crying at some points, its brillant.
Whilst it does mock Khazakstan, what I find more scary is all the different sub-cultures of the US&A he essentially mocks and rips it out of.
Pppl talked about how Borat is painting the ppl of Khazakstan in a bad light, to be honest, unless your vry stupid, he is always joking. The ppl who are painted in a bad light are the Americans because they themselves are represented on TV by themselves, and not some side show actors pretending to be from Khazakstan.
- the religious party he went to was ******* scary beyond words.
