Rome's great. Went there a decade ago.

Vatican is worth a visit, especially on the first sunday of the month. Now is probably a quiet time, while Herr Pontiff is in the Fatherland. ;)

But, steer clear of the cats near the Coliseum. Mange! :ugh:

Hello from Seattle, where I now reside. It's suburbia but at least it ain't Utah.

Think of it this way, with your countrymen leaving in droves (40 days and counting for me), you'll have some room to stretch your legs. Hell, if the others are leaving for reasons similar to my own, Bush's approval rating might actually climb back up to above 35 percent!

Dont get my wrong Smooth, I like ya. Even when youre purposely being a prick youre mostly enjoyable. But I am tired of constant negativity in my life.

Remember to buy a lighter if you need to burn anything out there.

I've been told that buying matches in Italy can land you in trouble.

So you never DID tell us exactly where you're going or what you're going to do there, IIRC.

i'm not sure that criticising something you don't like is negativity to be honest, s*** don't change if people don't complain.

that said some of the commentary provided could have as bit more meat to it to really live up to that ideal.

Im just sick of hearing the same thing over and over again is my point.

Im REALLY looking forward to the first "**** this place" thread after his 40 days left here are up.

Maybe we can get a "religion is the root of all evil" thread mixed in with it! Yeah wouldnt THAT be a nice change of pace? You know, something to liven things up. Because you know we never get enough of those two topics.

But if you'll look in the other thread, he overly called himself on it to the point of taking a sabbatical from the site due to his anti social behavior.

Point is: Smooth bitching about the US, discussions involving religion being the root of all evil, Snarl's love of ***, having to keep up with British slang.....it's all part of Transfans, and I wouldn't have it any other way.

I'm actually going to Rome in november.
Really looking forward to it.

We're planning on visiting as much places as possible - but if there's something really special you saw, Best First, please do recommend it.

Hope you're having fun :)

i'll write something up when i got a sec. How long are you here for? there is sooooooooooo much to do, way to much for one trip probably so you have to pick basically.

not really sure what is meant by the '**** this place' stuff to be honest? the religous topics have died down the last few weeks anyway, and the option always remains to avoid them and discuss other stuff.

Rome is great! I went there on a two-week school trip when I was sixteen.

There a billions of nice and beautiful places, and the food is excellent of course.

And the cats are cute. :)

Have fun!

TBH I've decided to take the Richard Dawkins approach to debating religious people these days*, which is essentially, I'm not going to, since it isn't really an argument. It's just them going "Yes, but I firmly believe this despite the lack of evidence and the considerable weight of vidence in favour of, say, evolution." He's said many times that there's no point debating someone else's opinion, and I'm going to follow his lead and leave the impassioned arguments to others.

Had a lovely time in Llangollen, by the way :)

*Okay, two days ago the Jehovah's Witnesses showed up at my sister's house while I was out, and I got back in about a minute later. I chased them up the street, got them into the house, made them a cup of tea and then spent a good half hour tearing them to absolutely tiny little shreds. It made me feel good, but it was like shooting ****ing fish in a barrel and afterwards I felt a bit sorry for them because I could see that the smarter of the two was actually beginning to question his simplistic fabricated world-view. After some of the debates I've had on here, I could have eaten the poor naïve JWs for breakfast.
I would have waited a ******* eternity for this!!!!
