I wish i was a punkrocker with flowers in my hair

If the Ivory Tower is the brain of the board, and the Transformers discussion is its heart, then General Discussions is the waste disposal pipe. Or kidney. Or something suitably pulpy and soft, like 4 week old bananas.

I saw some ugly slag singing it on an advert for her **** album. I guess it had Dermot Oleary or Jo Wiley saying how it was her 'seminal' first album.

If they did say seminal, they're bang on the money afaic.

I think her name's Lily Allen - she's supposed to be some "came out of nowhere but had loads of friends on mySpace" new talent but it turns out her label's been promoting her all along, she did a live gig recently and only 50 people showed. It's basically manufactured pop masquerading as indie talent.
I would have waited a ******* eternity for this!!!!

Nah, she's Keith Allen's daughter. Her music's tolerable.

The perpetrator of this offence is some unknown called Sandi Thom.

Fair enough. I try and avoid this kind of thing, but the missus kind of likes it.

Yeah, Sandie Thom's the "MySpace sensation" who actually had a record deal beforehand and all her webcast gigs were put on by the label.

Lily Allen, from what I gather, is a fairly genuine "popular after a DJ stumbled across her MySpace page" artiste.
Grrr. Argh.

And not at all anything to do with the fact her dad's a celebrity. ;)

Charlie Brooker wrote:Compared with anything that has any semblance of balls whatsoever, Angels is a bowl of cold mud - but next to most content, it's a towering emotional epic. It almost makes you feel something. No wonder it's become the official theme tune for thick people's funerals.

I wish I was little bit taller,
I wish I was a baller
I wish I had a girl who looked good
I would call her
I wish I had a rabbit in a hat with a bat
and a '64 Impala

I don't wanna see a ghost
It's the sight that I fear most
I'd rather have a piece of toast
Surely this lyric is far worse?

What is really wrong is just how many records this talentless bint has sold :x
