World Trade Center, the action movie.

If the Ivory Tower is the brain of the board, and the Transformers discussion is its heart, then General Discussions is the waste disposal pipe. Or kidney. Or something suitably pulpy and soft, like 4 week old bananas.

Oliver Stone doesn't really make action movies does he?

Could be interesting, but I don't think his work is as good as it once was. Alexander was appalling.

No, he doesn't make action movies.
But if I hade written "World Trade Center" people would've thought this was a thread about that subject.

I could've written "The movie", but that's just boring.

I don't know whether to not like it on the basis of the subject matter or on the basis of it being a Nic Cage movie.

Not saying that there aren't any Nic Cage movies I like, just none in the last 5 years or so.

And not saying you can't have action/drama movies about historical events, I just hope that Oliver Stone hasn't mellowed in his old age and just farts out a "unsung heroes/terrible evil/spirit of America" thing.

Is what the previews looked like to me...

Not really interested. Nick Cage is annoying and has the facial acting range of a coconut imo. I have to admit that I'm curious about it so I'm not ruling it out after it goes to DVD...

sad but true.

and as soon as we stop fixating on certain events (as tragic as they may be) and recognise the nasty day to day background **** the sooner we can really start to make a difference.

i reckon.

well, it would be a ****ing start anyway.

Do you guys think this movie will cause racism (or prejudice against muslims) to escalate or something?

Just imagine if we get to see the americans go about their daily life, kissing babys, giving money to homeless people, etc.
All of a sudden this random muslim guy named Machmud says "Derka derka Muhammed Jihad" and crashes a plane into a building.
Americans burn and die - and we get no explanation as to why Machmud crashed the plane into the building.

Some people might think that all muslims want to crash planes into buildings.
Can't believe I'm still here.
