I was in a local Thrift Store today. My girlfriend was looking for some crazy get-up, and I was putzing around in the used-book section of the store. You never know when you'll come across something cool there. I found this weird old religious book. It was from 1957, but the book looked like it was right off the shelf.
That's when it happened.
God spoke to me. It said that religion, as it stands now, is corrupt and wrong. People, throughout history, some with the best of intentions, have caused the message to be lost. It said that the very core of it has been overlooked. It told me that I must get the truth out to the people.
As if sensing my upcoming question, I suddenly felt like, if I read through the different religious texts, I would immediately know what did not belong and, in addition, what should belong in its place.
Crazy, eh?

Here's something interesting. Apparently, any time God was said to have told somebody to kill, hurt, or otherwise harm anybody else...wrong. This is becoming VERY clear as I'm scanning through the NIV Bible. Also, any time somebody's (or, in some instances, a lot of somebodies) misfortune is attributed to God...wrong.
It's amazing, but a lot of what's going on in the NIV Bible really just seems to be comparatively primitive people trying to interpret something that they were completely unequiped to deal with. Imagine giving a DVD to a caveman.

It seems infinately more likely that it's my own brain, having no evidence to the contrary. The logical thing to believe is that flipping through this crazy old book got me thinking about the subject and my mind filled in the rest.sprunkner wrote:For being Smooth, Smooth, you have a great deal of faith.
This is quite interesting to me, actually. Do you relate this sudden understanding to your own brain or to God?
Still, seems a shame to waste such an interesting premise, so, reading religious texts and reinterpreting them is what I'm going to be up to for awhile or until I get tired of it. Either way.

I hope you acquired the book. It would be a shame to ignore the catalyst for your endeavour.Professor Smooth wrote:It seems infinately more likely that it's my own brain, having no evidence to the contrary. Then again, it would also be a shame to seek its advice excessively and end up polluting your own opinions with those of its author.
